"(Y/N), do you know what that is?" Gray asked me without taking his eyes off the being in the sky.
"That is Ikusa-Tsunagi, one of the 18 Battle Gods of Yakuma," I replied.
"Did you say 'God?'" Lucy asked. I nodded.
We returned our attention to the sky just as Ikusa-Tsunagi swung his sword to the ground, forcing me to shield my eyes from the debris flying my way.
As I opened my eyes, I noticed Natsu running up his sword. "What does he think he's doing?" I exclaimed. "There's no way he can defeat a God!" Yet once again, that brother of mine finds a way to prove me wrong. With a Dragon Slayer technique, Ikusa-Tsunagi was defeated and Avatar lost the battle.
Just as the enemy was retreating, Gajeel and Pantherlily showed up with the magic council and arrested all the Avatar leaders. No one really believed that Gajeel actually worked for the magic council, which wasn't at all surprising.
As we were celebrating our victory, I saw Frosch running up to Happy and Lily. I looked to the top of a nearby hill to see Sting and Rogue looking at us. I walked up to them with my hands on my hips. "I thought I told you to stay at the guildhall".
"Yeah well, Romeo over here was worried about you," Sting replied, pointing to Rogue.
I turned to Rogue with a raised eyebrow and I could've sworn there was a faint pink on his cheeks. I giggled at my amazing fiancé's reaction. When I was done, I turned serious. "There's something I need to tell you guys". They went still at my serious tone. I turned to Sting. "First, Sting. I've been in contact with Zeref". His eyes widened while Rogue remained neutral. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just didn't think you'd approve of me conversing with the enemy".
He shook his head in exasperation. "You really need to stop assuming what other people would think". My eyes widened. "I understand and do you know why? Because he's your brother and you're my best friend. I know you. I know how difficult it would be to cut off complete contact with the very person that raised you".
I looked away guiltily. "I'm sorry".
I slid my eyes back to him and he gave me a small smile. "Is that all the secrets you're keeping from me?" When I didn't answer, he continued. "Just promise me this, that you'll eventually tell me everything". I nodded with a big smile on my face. After a moment of silence, he spoke up again. "Is that all?"
I shook my head. "There's one more thing". I turned to Rogue. "There's one more secret I've been keeping from you. I'm sorry I didn't tell you; I was trying to protect you and Frosch". When I mentioned Frosch, he went still. I then proceeded to tell the two of them about that warning from Future Rogue, their eyes going wider every time I said something new. I also explained that we prevented that future by stealing that job and defeating Avatar before they had the chance to kill Frosch. Rogue still looked like he wanted to kill Gray, but at least they weren't going crazy as I had feared. (A/N: TBH, I just couldn't be bothered to write all that dialogue)
After I had done, Sting asked, "So what now?"
"I have to go see Zeref and tell him what happened here".
"And then?" Rogue asked.
I turned to my friends chatting happily away and turning back to the boys. I remembered how Lucy and Natsu told me their plans for after we defeated Avatar. "They're going to rebuild their guildhall and look for Makarov. I think I'm going to help them".
Rogue's expression dropped when I said that and Sting whipped his head towards his best friend and brother, waiting for his reaction. "Are you going back to Fairy Tail?" he asked sadly.
My eyes widened for a moment, then I gave him a small smile. "No, I made a decision when I joined Sabertooth and I don't intend on changing that. I will stay in Sabertooth, with you, I promise". He seemed slightly better when I made him that promise.
Shortly after that, I said my goodbyes to my friends. I closed my eyes and felt around for Zeref's magic only to discover me was closer than I thought. I smiled and teleported to that location. I found him sitting down, staring at the sky and talking to himself about the academy. I walked up behind him with a smile on my face. "Reminiscing about the past?" I asked with an amused expression.
He turned around and smiled at me. "I was just thinking of everything that happened to us that lead to this moment".
I sat down next to him. "It"s crazy how much has happened". I closed my eyes, feeling the breeze flow around me.
After a moment of comfortable silence, he turned to me with a serious look on his face. "What happened?" He asked me.
I knew what he was talking about. My smile disappeared as I replied, "The Avatar guild has been arrested by the magic council".
He closed his eyes and relaxed again. "I see. I supposed that is to be expected," he muttered. I nodded my agreement. We turned our attention back to the sky, continuing to be lost in thought before he turned to me again. "I have a meeting soon. Would you care to join me?"
I tilted my head, puzzled. "A meeting? With whom?" With one look, I know who he was talking about. I shrugged my shoulders. "Sure. I'm curious to find out what he has to say to me. After all, it has been a while since we've really seen each other," I said with a smirk. With that, we got up and left.
He led me to a cave. We kept going deeper into the cave until we reached the end and saw a very familiar man with long dark blue hair and blue markings on his face.
Zeref was the one that started this meeting. "I'm rather surprised that you agreed to have this discussion, Acnologia".
"Black Wizard, and Princess of Darkness. What is it you want?" Acnologia said by way of greeting. I have to say, I was surprised he even acknowledged my presence. Acnologia and I did not get along, to say the least.
"You crave destruction, yet you hardly indulge yourself," Zeref started. "If you so desired, you could bring the whole world to its knees, but for some reason, you haven't. Whether it's a matter of principle or ambition is unclear".
"The same could be said of you," Acnologia replied.
"To be honest, my indecision is what kept me out of the fray. Should I side with humans and do battle with you, or would the opposite better suit my needs? My sister, of course, has already made her decision". He gestured to me as Acnologia flicked his eyes towards me. I gave a slight nod. "I've come to the conclusion that the question itself is flawed". I looked at him in confusion. Before I could ask, he explained further. "After weighing my interests, I am on neither side. Both you and mankind should be wiped out". I held my breath. "The world will bear witness: a human, dragon and an immortal will constitute this final battle".
I couldn't help but feel a slight stab in my heart when he said that. That was when I knew it was finally here, the inevitable final battle that I so dreaded. Soon, this would all be over. Not that this wasn't a good thing, it just meant that after the battle was over, I would have only one brother. I also knew that this final battle would determine my destiny. All I wanted was to move on and be with the one I love; I just knew that this battle would determine whether my wishes were to come true.
By the time I'd snapped out of my thoughts, the meeting was already over. Zeref led me out of the cave. While we were walking, he turned to look at me. "Are you alright? You were awfully quiet in there".
Instead of telling him the truth like I normally would, I smiled at him and said, "I'm fine". I could tell me didn't believe me, but he still turned back around. I let out the breath I had been holding. I knew I couldn't tell him what had been weighing down on my heart. Especially since he'd spent so long preparing for it, and he wanted this more than anyone.
When we were close enough to the border we said our goodbyes and I teleported to the ruins of the Fairy Tail guildhall to see everyone helping to rebuild it. I greeted my friends then picked up a plank of wood and started helping myself. They had been expecting me anyways. After all, I had told them of my plans back at Malba. It felt good to have everyone together again. I knew I would miss that about Fairy Tail, but I never forgot the promise I made to Rogue.
