I smirked. "I should know better than to try and fool you, Brandish," I commented as I slipped on my cloak. "Then again, I didn't expect to see any of you so soon".

Without sparing me another glance, she turned back to Marin. "Alright, playtime's over. Release her friends".

Reluctantly, Marin waved his hand and Lucy, Erza and Mest appeared out of nowhere.

I rushed over to them. "Thank you," I said to Brandish as I knelt down to help my friends up.

"I do not need your gratitude," she replied. "You have been labelled a traitor to Alvarez, but you still have my respect".

I narrowed my eyes. 'So they already know of my decision, do they?'

As she was about to leave, she stopped. "Makarov's alive by the way. But if you guys don't behave yourselves, that could easily change. So this is your warning, you better run along home or else". Suddenly, the ground started to shake. Before we knew it, we had landed in the ocean and Brandish was standing on top of the patch of land that she had shrunk. "Alvarez has eleven other wizards that are just as powerful as I am, so don't go picking a fight you can't win, got that Fairy Tail?" Then she disappeared.

We got to our ship and started helping everyone that was on that island when it shrunk. We had just finished getting everyone on the ship when we disappeared and landed in some sort of underwater building.

I could tell that it was teleportation magic that brought us here and since there was only one other person besides myself that knew teleportation magic, I knew Mest was responsible. "Real classy Mest," I said to him, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

Suddenly, the building started moving. We heard a voice. "I'm glad you've come". I looked to the front of the room to see Sorano sitting on a throne. After that, it wasn't difficult to put the pieces together. "So you were the spy," I confirmed.

"Hello Princess, so good to see you again," she said by way of reply. I raised an eyebrow at her. Sorano revealed that she was taking us straight into Alvarez where Makarov was.

After everyone had calmed down and waited for the ride to be over, I moved to the window to watch the water flowing by. I was interrupted from my thoughts when I heard footsteps approaching me. The reflection of the water told me that the footsteps belonged to Gray.

I turned around to meet his gaze. "Alright (Y/N), enough surprises. I'm overlooking the fact that you never told us that you were the leader of the Spriggan 12, but I want to know exactly what we're dealing with, so who is this king I keep hearing so much about?" Everyone turned to watch our exchange.

I looked at Sorano and I could tell that she wasn't going to bail me out of this one. I slid my eyes back to Gray, who was looking at me expectantly. I leaned casually against the windowsill. "Zeref, but I suspect you already knew that," I replied calmly. Everyone was shocked. Ending the conversation, I turned around and returned to staring at the ocean.

It wasn't long before we reached the border of Alvarez. Sorano dropped us off and then left, leaving us to travel the rest of the way ourselves. Since I was the only one who knew Alvarez's whereabouts, I led the way. When we reached a safe enough distance from the castle, we stopped to come up with a plan. The plan was to have Mest teleport to Makarov and bring him back. Mest was preparing to leave when I sensed something coming from the castle. I grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving. "Let me come with you". His eyes widened but I paid it no heed. "Zeref's about to use an attack on Makarov, I can feel it. I can absorb the blast and give you enough time to grab Makarov and get out". He nodded and we went on our way.

I teleported in between Zeref and Makarov while Mest grabbed Makarov and teleported away, allowing me to absorb Zeref's attack. When I had recovered, I stood up and looked at him. "I come all this way to see you and this is how you react?" I said amused.

"I knew you'd be able to withstand it," he replied.

"So you were expecting us". I moved over to the balcony railing and he followed.

After a moment of silence, I spoke up. "As pleasant as this is, I didn't come here for a social visit. I came to say goodbye". I knew that he had already started planning the inevitable war.

He looked at me. "So this is where you stand".

I nodded. "The next time we meet will be on the battlefield as I fight to defend my home".

He nodded. With our final goodbyes over, I teleported away, leaving the man who raised me behind. I landed when we had agreed to meet up to see a monster made of sand chasing what looked to be the magic-mobile we came on.

I teleported in front of Lucy and Gray were on top on the magic-mobile. "I disappear for five minutes and you somehow manage to pick a fight with another of the Spriggan 12?!" I yelled to my friends. They seemed pleased to see me.

"Well, if it isn't our traitor leader!" Ajeel yelled to me from on top of the monster.

"It's nice to see you too Ajeel! Glad to see my reputation proceeds me!" I yelled back with sarcasm as I used my black magic to try and destroy the monster that was quickly gaining on us.

Gray froze the monster but Ajeel escaped and sent little flying sand monsters after us. Together, we managed to destroy them all. Ajeel disappeared. I kept my focus on the ground as I knew that was where he would emerge next. Seconds later, an attack came from the ground. It seemed he had created a large sinkhole making everyone lose their balance and fall into the sinkhole. Eventually, Natsu made the sand evaporate with his fire and punched Ajeel.

After a while of fighting Ajeel, he sent a massive wave of sand toward us. Makarov seemed to be getting ready to protect us until a bolt of lightning came down from the sky, giving me the opportunity to teleport everyone to the vehicle where the bolt of lightning originated from, the Magic Bomber Christina Advanced. We landed and came face-to-face with Laxus, Levy, Gajeel, Lily, Juvia, Elfman, Evergreen, Bickslow, Freed, Cana, Mira, Lisanna and Ichiya.

After making sure everyone was okay, I moved to the balcony. A while later, I heard footsteps approaching me until they stopped right next to me. I turned to see Lucy. "Are you okay? You've seemed unusually quiet since we started this mission," she asked worriedly.

I looked at her with a soft smile. "I'm fine. I appreciate the concern, but I'll be okay".

"I'm sorry. I know this can't be easy for you. We're here if you need anyone".

"Thank you, but I'll be fine". I waited until she left. Letting a single tear fall from my eye, I removed my Alvarez guild mark and the one thing keeping me and my brother together, our link. With a deep sigh and one last look at the kingdom my brother and I have built together, I turned around and went to join my friends.

When we got back to the guildhall, everyone started celebrating Makarov's return. I was about to step outside when I heard a voice from behind me. "You're not going to join us?" I turned around to see Lucy.

I turned around. "I'm not a member of your little family anymore," I said with a soft smile.

"You helped create this family so you'll always be a part of it, whether you like it or not. Besides, there's no way we would've gotten Makarov back without your help". She stretched out her hand. After a moment's thought, I shook my head to clear my thoughts and took her hand. I'd forgotten how lively the guild was during its parties. I don't remember letting my thoughts wander once, at least until the party was over.
