A/N: Sorry for the long wait. The sound for my laptop was fixed a few weeks ago, but after that, I had a bit of writer's block that I just got over a few days ago.
"Hello little sister," he said with a smirk.
I was not happy. I gave an exasperated sigh. "I have nothing to say to you".
He tilted his head in confusion. "What is it?" By the smirk still plastered on his face, I got the feeling he already had some idea of why I was so angry with him.
I angrily walked up to him. "My fiancé almost died because of you! And so did our brother. Thanks to you telling him the truth, E.N.D started to react. He could've died! What on earth were you thinking?"
Before he had a chance to reply, we heard footsteps. I turned around and saw Mavis walk into the room. She'd noticed something was wrong, but it took her a while to notice us. When she did, her eyes widened. "Why are you here?" she asked, staring straight at Zeref.
"Why are you alive?" he asked by way of answering her question.
I stood in front of her protectively while Zeref went on to explain what had happened. "You likely know why I'm here, but how I got here is another matter. The gameboard has been rearranged, the players have moved". I rolled my eyes, once again reminded that this was no more than a game to him. "A result of Fiore itself being shrunk. It's now 1/20th of its original size, perhaps even smaller. It seems Irene means to bring an end to the war in her own special way. As good fortune would have it, I am now face-to-face with the Fairy Heart". By now, he was standing right in front of us while we just glared at him silently.
As they were talking, Mavis suddenly froze and turned to ice. Suddenly, ice started to cover my feet until I could no longer move. I turned as best I could in the situation I was in. "Don't you think this is going a little too far, Invel?" I said as I watched him walk towards us.
"I agree," Zeref agreed.
"I am aware of the relationship you and she once had; however she is the Fairy Heart itself, which means she could weaponize that power," Invel explained.
"Mavis understands better than anyone that the Fairy Heart cannot be used, even if it would assure my long-awaited death," Zeref explained to him.
Having finally convinced him, Invel finally unfroze Mavis but placed chains around her neck instead. They then started going their separate ways.
"What about me?" I asked, agitated. Without a single word, Invel placed handcuffs on my wrists but didn't unfreeze my legs. "That's not what I meant," I mumbled.
I tried to use my black magic to disintegrate the ice, but my eyes widened when it didn't work. "What did you do to me?" I demanded.
"Just a little precaution, Lady (Y/N)," Invel explained. "So that you won't escape". (A/N: I actually don't know if Invel can do this or not, but I decided to write it in regardless)
I gave him a death stare before I sighed, defeated. Suddenly, the ice started gliding on the floor. It seemed like it was moving on its own. Zeref led us outside and our eyes widened when we looked down and saw what looked like millions of Alvarez soldiers.
It wasn't long before the rest of the 12 arrived. Irene led Mavis inside to do the extraction of Fairy Heart while I stayed outside with Zeref. Once the rest of the 12 had split up, I turned to Zeref. "You won't get away with this! Natsu will stop you, I know he will".
"I thought you of all people would understand why I'm doing this". I didn't know what to say. I did understand, better than anyone. For a long time, it was what I wanted as well, but not for a long time. I wasn't ready to give up all the friends I'd made. Now, all I wanted was a normal life with my friends.
Instead of answering, I frowned and looked down at my friends who were fighting my brother's army.
After another moment, he took me inside as Irene started to extract Fairy Heart from Mavis. I couldn't bear to see her in so much pain, yet all I could do was look away. That didn't mean I was going to give up though. I started moving around in an effort to break out of Invel's ice. "Struggling is futile," he said. "You'll only exhaust yourself". I shot him a death glare before I placed my hands down.
"Can you at least remove the ice from my legs?" I asked him. "My legs are starting to hurt". He looked at Zeref who gave him a nod. After a moment of hesitation, the ice on my legs disappeared. I sat down on a chair as I rubbed the place where the ice was.
I looked up at Mavis who was still screaming in pain. I rushed over to her and grabbed her hand with my own cold ones. It was all I could do with these handcuffs still on my wrists.
All of a sudden, the handcuffs on my wrists disappeared, although Irene was too focused to notice. Invel must have been defeated. I looked at Mavis and she gave me a subtle nod. She created illusions of us while I teleported the real us away.
I teleported her outside. "Go find the others," I said to Mavis before turning back to the guildhall.
"What about you?" I turned back around to face her.
"I'm staying. I have a score to settle with my brother". I then turned back around and walked back to the guildhall without waiting for her to reply. I pushed open the doors and Zeref and Irene stopped and looked at me. "Hello brother," I said with a smirk on my face.
"Where is she?" he asked, ignoring my comment. It seemed he was no longer in the mood for games.
I straightened up. "Safe from you".
He frowned then turned to Irene. "We must find her at once. However, you must swear that she won't be harmed".
I watched as her eyes darkened as she said, "Understood". I didn't trust her to keep her promise with the state she was in, but I knew that Mavis could take care of herself.
I waited until she was gone before I sent a blast of black magic toward Zeref, sending him back. "Don't you know, you can never hope to defeat me?" he said with a smirk on his face.
I walked toward Zeref. "I don't have to defeat you. I just have to hold you off until our brother gets here". I then sent blast after blast at him, but this time, he blocked them all with his own black magic. Suddenly, he sent a blast towards me. Not giving me enough time to block, I was pushed back. And thus our fight began.
