Life as a pro hero had always been difficult for you so far, but as you looked up at the sky, a mixture of raindrops and tears trailing down your cheeks, you never would have expected this to happen. Or, not this soon, anyway..
Police car sirens wailed in the streets, and a villain stood mere metres in front of you, fighting off other pro heroes. You were stupid to try to fight this guy before backup arrived. You were stupid to think you could handle someone twice your size and way stronger than you by yourself. This was all your fault, and you hated it...
Your eyes closed for a moment or two, opening when you felt somebody lift your limp body into their arms and take you somewhere out of the way. Once you were played on the ground, still once again, you look up, to see the panicked eyes of Aizawa. He placed a hand over your stomach, which was bleeding a beautiful crimson. You'd lost track of just how much blood you'd lost from your various cuts and scrapes, let alone the hole in your stomach, which was the worst wound that your body had sustained so far.
"What were you thinking?" Aizawa questioned, not raising his voice as his eyes met your own once again. Luckily, the tears that streamed from your eyes were practically indistinguishable from the droplets of rain. You would see the worry in your best friend's gaze, something which was somewhat of a rare occurrence, actually.
"I'm sorry, Shota... I thought I could handle it..." You said, your voice strained as you spoke. You took your hand and placed it on his cheek gently, leaving a small amount of blood which was stuck to your thumb on his cheekbone. His hand moved to support your own, holding onto it. He kissed it gently, causing your slightly-pale face to flush a pale rose, which caused him to chuckle, clearly trying to keep up the mood.
"Don't apologize." He said, and you looked up at him with a sad, scared face. You knew you were going to die, and it was obvious by your expression. "And don't look like that... You'll make it through this, [Y/N], you're strong, I know you can survive this." He said, tears starting to build up in his own eyes. He knew just as well as you did that this was the end. You could tell he did.
"Shota..." You mumbled his name, and he looked into your frightened, teary eyes. "I-I'm going to die... I don't want to die..." You said, your whole body beginning to shake as you spoke. You could feel your self getting more and more sleepy by the second, but you knew that you couldn't risk falling asleep. What if you didn't wake up?
You smiled a little as a thought popped into your head. "Hey, Shota, remember when we went on that training camp back in U.A? Me and Mic got lost in the forest and you had to go out at midnight to find us." You said and laughed softly, enjoyable memories beginning to flood into your head. You were dying, but at least let your last moment be a happy one.
Aizawa knew what you were doing, but chuckled a little all the same. "Yeah. I had to follow your lights, as Mic's voice would have woken everyone up." He said. "I always did love those lights of yours. They were always so warm and comforting." He added, making you smile.
"Oh, oh, and remember when I decided to play that prank on the principle?"
"Yeah, you got in serious trouble. You were grounded by your parents for two months after that little stunt."
"But you still snuck into my room every night to talk to me..." You added, smiling softly. "God, I miss those days." You said. It was getting harder and harder to breathe now, and you could feel your head spinning. "I used to love when we'd hangout. The nights we spent talking until the sun came up. I'm starting to think I'm the reason you never used to sleep." You laughed, your voice quieter than before. Aizawa began to panic a little as he saw your eyes begin to close.
"Come on, [Y/N], I want to talk more. Remember the time I kissed you during our training match, in front of everyone? Or when I hid you from our teacher back in our first year when you came to school after getting into a fight with a villain? Come on. Please don't go to sleep. Stay with me." His salty tears fell onto your own cheeks, and you flashed him one more of those signature grins of yours.
"I'll be watching you from now on, Shota. Make me proud." You said, and your eyes closed. "I love... You..." was the last thing that passed your lips before all went silent. Your hand fell from Aizawa's loose grasp, and his eyes widened. He shook your shoulders once, twice, thrice, but nothing. You didn't so much as stir. He gently kissed your forehead and held you for a moment in his trembling grasp.
"This isn't fair... I wanted you to stay by my side, dammit..." He mumbled. That was it. You were gone. He would never be able to talk with you again, or let you know how much you meant to him...
But the worst thing for him was, he didn't even get to say that he loved you too....

It was only around four days later that your funeral took place. Shota had a speech ready, but the moment he looked at your pale face, he felt his throat turn dry and speaking became near impossible for him. He simply left the note in your coffin before they closed the lid.
The note read as follows:
"A long time ago, a person told me that you can't possibly know what happiness feels like if you haven't been sad before. But with your presence, I don't believe that was necessarily true. You brought a smile to the face of everybody you met, and hope into the hearts of those frightened or alone.
If God is out there anywhere, I hope that he is in fact happy to have one of his precious angels return to heaven to be by his side again. And if he isn't, and you truly are wandering around, watching over me as you said, just know that I will be with you once my job here is done.
You will be missed greatly. By your friends, allies, and fans, but you will always be within our hearts and we will not forget the sacrifices you made trying to protect us all.
I love you dearly, and hope that you are happy wherever you go next."
As they lowered your coffin into the ground, Aizawa was stood at the front of the crowd of people. He never expected to have to say goodbye to such a bright ray of hope so soon, but he hoped that one day, he would be able to see you again.
