Layla's P.O.V: Those dragons have shield technology?! I thought as I paced around the now-smoking Darkness ship. Most of the crew on the ship were out in space, fixing the ship as it flew back to the castle. I knew it was a mistake to assume that the Light army were just a bunch of blathering idiots. I looked out of one of the scarcely-placed windows, and saw that we were close to the Darkness castle. I then took a glance at the dragons, who were tethered to the ship with long, black ropes made out of a combination of steel and a special dark ore called Shadotiem. It was found by one of our scientists recently, and ever since then, the Darkness has used it for everything. Armor, ships, ovens, you name it. I assure you it's made out of shadotiem.
After a few minutes, our ship got to the docking station, and as the pilot gave the guard his I.D, I thought about the past events. The humans on that ship looked familiar, and their identities were on the tip of my tongue. I pushed those thoughts away as the ship backed up into its small garage. The garage was built into one of the smaller tiers of the castle, like all the other garages. Only I got out of the ship, since the crew was still working on repairing it. I groaned with dismay as I remembered I had to go tell the King that the attack failed. I flew all the way up to the middle of the largest tier, which was where the Darkness King's throne room was, then face-clawed when I remembered that there was an elevator. I dragged myself through the large hole of the hidden passageway to the throne room only me, Gyrio, and other high-ranking Darkness members knew about. I finally faced the King, who was glaring down at me with his yellow, glowing, pupil-less eyes. “ Have you come to tell me how the attack went?” he asked, still sitting atop his midnight black throne.
“Yes, I have. The dragons and the humans escaped. Apparently, the Light army has shield technology.” As I expected, the King roared his usual outraged roar. He roars like that a lot, but I still shudder for some reason every time he does. “ Go tell the scientists and engineers that we must install shield technology of our own.” The King growled after he finished roaring. I left the room, and used the elevator. Jazz music filled the air as the elevator made its trip downwards to the scientists' lab. The elevator stopped to pick up another dragon. The dragon looked about eight or nine, and when she saw me, her eyes lit up with excitement. “ Are you Lieutenant Layla?” the dragon asked, hardly able to keep her excitement in.
“ The one and only.” I answered with confidence. The young dragon handed me a piece of paper yellowed with age, and a black pen. “ Can I have your autograph?” she asked, bouncing with excitement. I smiled, and signed the sheet of paper. I gave her the paper and pen back, and she thanked me.
“What's your name?” I asked.
“ Casey.” the small dragon now known as Casey answered.
“ That's a very nice name, Casey.” I said, which made her bright smile even brighter. The elevator door opened, and the dragon happily skipped out. I chuckled as the elevator door closed, then opened again a moment later when it got to my destination. Nice kid, I thought as I went over to the head scientist, Mr.Grein. He looked up from his beaker, and said “ Greetings, Layla. What brings you here?”
“ Hey, Mr.Grein. I came here to tell you that the Light army has shield technology now.” I replied. His eyes got wide, and he put his claws to his head in a frantic fashion. “WHAT?! Fellow scientists, the Light army has shield technology! I shall tell the Head Engineer straight away! Thank you, Layla, for that information.” The Head Scientist promptly ran into the elevator, and started pressing the button frantically. I dashed into the elevator before its doors closed, and stood to the left of a very frantic Mr.Grein. When the elevator door opened, Mr.Grein dashed outside, while I stayed in the elevator. Well, I guess I don't need to tell the engineers anymore, I thought as I pushed the button with a black number 7 printed on it.
When the elevator door opened, I face-clawed again as I remembered I had to feed the prisoners. I got some old bread and stale water from the kitchen, then went down the stairs, since I felt like exercising my legs. I eventually emerged at the front door of the dungeon, and when I opened the sound-proof door, I immediately heard the moans and pleas for freedom from the prisoners. I swiftly handed them their food and drinks, then I bolted out of the room, not wanting to hear them. It's not because I'm cruel, I just can't stand to hear their moans. I flew up the old, mossy, stone stairs, and went back into the elevator. I pressed the button with the 7 on it again, and when the elevator got to the floor my room was on, I walked to my room. When I got to my room, I plopped down on my cushioned chair made out of birch wood, and started writing more battle plans.
