☆━━━WITH ALL THE RUNNING I had done today, I was sure by tomorrow morning I would be in a world of pain with how sore my muscles were going to be.

Vern ran in front of me and my sister. Honestly, I was rather shocked with how fast the nerdy male was. He must have been on the track team back in the day, because hell, he was in better shape than me, and I was only fifteen.

It's a sad thought, and I knew after all this shit was said and done with, I was really going to look into a gym membership and take Mason up on his offer to workout together.

"Come on!" Vern yelled, sparing us a small glance to which I huffed at.

My breathing was slightly labored, and my injured arm was aching from all the running I had been doing, "Verny, please slow the hell down, imma pass out!"

Without saying a word, Vern quickly reached back and wrapped a firm hand around my wrist, making me move quicker than I already was. I let out a surprised squeak, nearly tripping over my own feet.

As we finally made it to the lab, I let my eyes sweep the area before coming to a quick stop on Eric Sacks. April shared a look with us, lowering down and slowly sneaking in his direction. I mimicked her actions, my heart beginning to thump the closer we got. Suddenly, without any warning, he spun around and snapped out a gun, firing two shots in our direction.

Holy crap, a little warning woulda been nice! I dove toward Vern and tackled him to the ground, the two of us taking cover behind some shelves. I pressed my back against the hard counter, my chest rising and falling in quick breaths. A flare of annoyance flared in my belly as Dr. Doofenshmirtz continued to fire at us.

"Stop shooting you stupid piece of—" Vern cut me off by placing a hand over my mouth, the rest of my words being muffled. I squinted my eyes up at the man, shoving his hand away, annoyed he didn't let me finish.

"Seriously?" Sacks laughed as he slowly moved closer to us, the gun in his hand pointing in our direction, "You three, you're adorable. Really. I could just pinch your cheeks!"
