"WHERE DO YOU LIVE?"
"With my sister."
The male officers' eyes narrow at me with a no shit? Look before he clears his throat, clasping his hands in front of him while leaning forward a bit. Oh, someone means business.
"Where does your sister live?"
"With me,"
I swear I see his eye twitch. That's when he starts a rapid-fire question game that we both know I win.
"Where do you both live?"
"Together."
"Where is your apartment?"
"Next to my neighbor's apartment."
"Where is your neighbor's apartment?"
At this I pause, leaning forward in my seat as if I was about to tell my deepest darkest secret. "You won't believe me if I tell you,"
"Just tell me!"
I whisper, "Next to my apartment,"
I watch with an innocent look on my face as the officer stands up suddenly, shooting me a stare that I would assume was meant to kill, before stomping to the door like an overgrown man child. "Forget this shit, I don't get paid enough to deal with your sarcastic ass,"
I sit back as the door to the interrogation room slams shut, leaving just me and Mason now. Was it something I said?
My eyes do a quick scan of the room as silence takes over. I've seen enough movies to know what an interrogation room looks like. Then again, I think most people have. But I can't help but take in my surroundings, since there was nothing better to do. My eyes zero in on a slight scuff mark on the metal table, then to a dent in the door, then to the large glass wall which I could see my reflection in. My brows push together when I notice Masons reflection looking in my direction.
I turn my head to look up at the towering male, who stared back at me with a curious gleam in his eyes, "What?"
"You really care about them, huh?"
