"Bye Coach!" I shout to my coach, coach Laurie.

She waves in the darkness of the parking lot with her 12 year old daughter, who also takes gymnastics.

I flick some of my excess strands of hair out of my eyes.

My ankle hurts again.

I fasten my brace and put my uggs on, and then I walk home.

I check what time it is

7:46

Shoot.

I'm late for Hayes' football game.

I frantically call Candice to pick me up.

She arrives soon after, in her Starbucks outfit, looking exhausted.

"To the school please" I say to her, panicking

"Are you late again?" she says, while pulling out of the parking lot.

"Yeah. 10 minutes" I say laughing.

I've always been late to his football games when they're on Fridays, because my coach always makes us practice extra.

I arrive at the game, with a Davidson Day sweatshirt and leggings with uggs.

I changed in the car.

...

Hayes is the quarterback.

He's amazing.

Sigh.

I wish I was a cheerleader

But...

My coach doesn't let me do ANY other sport, because gymnastics is "life"

I guess it is.

After the game, i wait for Hayes to come out after freshening up because we usually we walk to the park and just sit and talk.

I wait 15 minutes.

I frown and start to heading back to my house

Usually he comes out in 10 minutes.

Maybe he's waiting for me already at the park.

I shrug, and start to head over there.

I'm shocked to see him there with his gang.

"Umm" I say, confused.

"Oh. Sorry. We want to hang here just for today." he says, not picking his head up from his phone.

Whatever

I don't try to make a big deal out of

"Well...." I breath in

"I have more important things to do" I say, turning to the direction of my house.

"Wait-" I hear Hayes say, but I am already running to my house.
