Let's put it this way.
Your mom told you to wear something comfortable because today is the Church's community day. You went to where that rack where your cool shoes are and picked your favorite one. When your mom saw what you were wearing, she told you to get your old sneakers from the attic because you're not going to a place where people parade their stuff. You started grumbling and ranting because you really wanted to wear and show it to your friends.
Your mom sighed and finally agreed to avoid further commotion.
When you arrived at the place where your churchmates were patiently waiting, your eyes immediately flew to your beloved shoes. The moment you found out that you, guys, are going to do some "treasure hunting" down the sewage tunnel, you finally realized why your Mom begged you to change.

God knows everything. Even the things that are playing in that creative mind of yours, the strands of your hair, the desires of your heart, and the future. He knows what will happen if you choose to do His will and your will. This is the very reason why He created the Bible. To guide us and let us know that He has greater plans for us in the future if we only follow what's written on it.
With the situation aforementioned, (Say wut? Lol) let's use the Mom as a sub for God. The Mom obviously knew that they were doing the community service at a sewage tunnel that's why she asked her child to get something else. But, we, the child, chose not to obey and insisted what we want. Finding out at a latter part the consequence of not following.
There are instances or scenarios when we thought we're doing the right decisions in our lives. That we're taking the next big step and it'll lead us to something better, something we've always wanted. And everytime that our plans are being interrupted due to some inexplicable and inevitable circumstances, we sometimes blame God. We're under the impression that He's not making things easy for us. Or worst, we're assuming that this is it. That God is testing us or tempting us (remember James 1:13) to see how far can we go.
That's the time where we pray and fast and ask for a Word from God. When it was said in the scriptures that following Jesus is not an easy thing, he wasn't referring to all the struggles and obstacles that we will face. Some of it were mainly problems because we made them ourselves. We also need to make sure that we are following the right path.
Going back, following requires full dependability and trust. The Mom in the situation has the authority over her child. She was a Mom for a reason. Parents were supposed to teach and guide us. As a child, we should be the submissive one. A parent would never wish her children to be in distress or danger. Just like God.
If we will only let ourselves to calm down and set our eyes unto Jesus, its not going to be very easy to follow Him. Its hard at first, I know. Believe me , I feel you. But I'm writing this to encourage each one of us to deny ourselves, take up our cross and Follow Jesus.
--I want to write more but I'm at work and its just my lunch break. Lol
