"Henry I understand that Luciana violated the rules but she had too for the sake of her children, as her lawyer I am begging you to pull some strings for me. You know I wouldn't be asking you to do this if she wasn't a good citizen but she is. The only reason she's in this kind of trouble is because of Trump's new law and ICE is literally cracking down on every immigrant in this city. She's been waiting on her visa to renew since 2014. It's 2019 Henry."
"Sariya trust me I want to help you but I don't know if I can. You don't understand how many calls I get a day for this. All I can do is say that I'll try. If ICE already has her, there's nothing I can do unless she's a witness to some crime that prevents ICE from deporting her back to mexico."
Sariya got up from her desk and shut the door. "Are you telling me to say she's in protective custody?"
"All I'm saying is if you don't want Luciana to get deported, as her lawyer you better get her to testify against Germano."
Sariya leaned against her desk and sighed. "You don't think I've tried Henry? The girl is terrified for her life and has every right to be. You know Germano has people on the inside, so even if she is in witness protection I don't know who to trust."
"Well if you can't help me, I can't help you. Lawyer to lawyer you and I both know how this has to go if Luciana doesn't want to be separated from her children. Talk to her Sariya, I really need her to testify. If she testifies, I promise on my life that I won't let anything happen to her or her children."
Sariya relaxed her shoulders and rubbed her face. "Yeah okay Henry, I'll try my best."
"Of course you will. I need an answer by the end of the day too Sariya, time is not on her side."
"Yeah I know. I'm heading to the detainment center now. I don't even have all night because I have a flight to catch at 3 am. So hopefully she'll agree."
"If she wants to protect her children she will. But on another note, are you excited to meet your soon to be brother in law?"
"Well first off what do you mean about excited?" Sariya asked as she pushed off of her desk and grabbed a few papers and put it in her briefcase.
"Your the maid of honor and your sister is getting married, you must be excited. I'm honestly very sad I can't make it this weekend. I used all my vacation time on my honeymoon with Jonathan."
Sariya laughed. "Well I'm technically the Co-maid of honor since I didn't get to tend to my duties cause of work, but yes I guess I'm excited again. She's on her 3rd husband and I haven't even met my 1st. And trust me you won't be missing out on anything, if something crazy happens I'll be sure to FaceTime you immediately."
"Man I still can't believe your mother helped her plan this wedding. You'd think after the 2nd one, she'd leave it all up to Jordyn."
"You know my mother cherishes Jordyn, she's the princess and I'm nuisance."
"Oh don't say that love, your my nuisance forever and always."
Sariya laughed. "I'll be sure to tell Jonathan that."
"Oh please do honey, maybe he'll get jealous for once."
They both started cracking up.
"Man I can't stand you. Let me go and talk to Luciana, hopefully next time we speak It'll be me telling you to come get her."
"Shit I hope so too. Cause I'll walk in that bitch like I'm Beyoncé and a court order and slap ICE with it real quick honey."
Sariya shook her head and grabbed her keys before shutting the blinds and heading out of her office. "Bye Henry, I don't have time for the games."
