The Next Morning –
On top of the rooftops just as the sun was about to rise from the ground, the lone warrior Darksun was meditating through the cool morning breeze for a brief few moments, clearing his mind of all his troubles. The glare of the warm morning sunrise hit his eyes for a brief moment, and he was suddenly aware that someone or something was approaching.
Descending to the roof after flying for several hours, an exhausted Wiccary lost the trail she was on as she said to herself, 'shit! Bloody lost it again!'
She then caught her breath and flewagain into the morning sky to continue searching for her intended target.
Meanwhile...
Back at the Central Precinct, a tired looking Jake, was yawning on his way to Burton's office after having a long overdue sleep when Mia caught up to him.
'Had any nightmares again Jake?' she asked him.
'To be honest, it's been so long since I had a long sleep without having that dream appear again. It's strange really, I usually expect the same dream to appear but this time it didn't; now I'm not sure what this means,' said Jake.
'Well you'd better be ready and get your head in the game, because this is the moment we have all been waiting for,' said Mia, as they approached the office. Steve and Dr. Phillips were already there, waiting for Burton's next instructions.
Burton exited his office and signalled for the four to stay where they were as he made an announcement to the rest of the police force.
'Alright listen up everyone! In twelve hours from now, we will commence a sting operation to capture the vigilante who's been running around the streets of LA for the past three years.'
Most of the police and detectives were either confused, slightly relieved or in Officer Lopez's perspective, overly annoyed and ill-tempered that it had taken this long to formulate a plan to finally catch Darksun.
'Detective Mia Reyes will be in charge of the sting, assisting her will be Officer Jake O'Neil. Everything will be observed by Steve here, he will have eyes on the operation and an eye on anything you guys do,' continued Burton.
'What do you mean by that Sir?' interjected Officer Lopez, concerned about the latter part of Burton's order.
'What I mean Lopez, is that we're asking for volunteers to help Reyes and O'Neil on this sting. If any of you want to help, talk to one of them to learn what you need to do. That is all for now,' answered Burton.
As soon as the announcement was over, the department was filled with piqued interest, and excitable chatter.
Mia headed towards Jake, 'are you sure you're up to this Jake?'
The young officer knew in his gutthat if he caught Darksun, he would finally be one step closer to finding hislost friend, 'yeah, don't worry about me Mia, I'm ready now.'
A few hours later...
At times the notorious East LA region can be dead silent as a door nail, and at other times, it can be energetically wild and loud. On this evening however, it was hard to tell what kind of night it was going to be. The quiet streets near the town hall were bustling at their normal pace. But hidden from the view of nearly everyone, a small group of police officers were waiting in unmarked cars, in one of them, Mia with Jake in her passenger seat, were waiting for the elusive Darksun to show himself.
Mia quickly checked through the radio to make sure that the others involved in the sting were in their respective positions. Finally, she checked in on Steve's progress via radio, 'everything on your end good to go?'
