As dawn had slowly crept into the night sky, the light hovered above and reflected the gilded statue. Darksun finally felt at peace after avenging his mentor and possibly having saved all of Los Angeles. However, he then realised that it was not completely over just yet.
Darksun faced Jake and told him, 'Jake, listen to me. Detective Reyes and the cops are coming and Wiccary and I don't want to be here when they do.'
'Wait a minute?! How the hell am I supposed to explain everything to Mia if you're not gonna be here?!' Jake asked, shocked. After everything they had went through together, Jake expected that Darksun would be there to help clarify things.
Both Darksun and Wiccary looked at each other in agreement. Darksun said sceptically to Jake, 'do you really want to tell them everything?'
'No, not really. But if you ask me, it's gonna be a hell of a lot of paperwork to deal with,' Jake quickly answered.
Wiccary offered Darksun a quick way out of the building, 'listen, I can get us out of here, just tell me where you want to go and the cops won't be able to follow us.'
Jake knew that once Wiccary had taken him to where he wanted to go, he might never see Darksun again.
Just as Darksun was about to tell Wiccary the destination, Jake interrupted him and told Wiccary, 'take him to Lincoln Heights.'
This left Darksun shocked, his eyes widened and confused. He forced himself to ask Jake, 'why do you want her to take me there?!'
'Five years is too long to stay away from home, I made a promise to your parents that I would find you for them. So now, I need you to promise me that you will see them,' Jake told him calmly.
The thought about seeing his family again daunted his mind for so many years, and deep down he knew that Jake was right. Suddenly, he noticed the cops' footsteps approaching the doors. Darksun cleaned his sword of Dubois' blood before concealing it.
'I think from the looks of things here, Lincoln Heights is better than being here!' Wiccary said to Darksun.
As Wiccary began the teleportation spell, the grateful Darksun gave his friend a hug, 'hey Jake... I guess I should say thanks for all your help in the past two days.'
Jake gave a quick smile, 'well, I should also thank you for changing my life five years ago. Now you owe me one, so I'll be seeing you again.'
'Hmm perhaps we shall see, won't we? Husta luego mi amigo,' said Darksun as he and Wiccary disappeared in a puff of black smoke.
Once the smoke cleared, they were gone from Halo Tech without a trace. Just then Mia and her squad of officers appeared aiming their guns but quickly lowered them after seeing Dubois' lifeless body.
'Lopez I need you to radio in Dr. Phillips saying that we got another body coming to the morgue,' Mia ordered.
While Lopez radioed the coroner's office, Mia approached Jake and gave him a quick hug, 'Jake, dios mio are you alright? The elevators were not working and it took us a while to get up here.'
Jake reassured her that he was fine. With that resolved, Jake focused on the bigger problem pertaining to Dubois' corpse, 'so how are we gonna tell the press about his death?' he asked Mia. 'The last thing I want to do is paint another target on Darksun.'
Mia understood the situation and explained, 'well after we got an anonymous tip about Raymundo and the Lobos, our squad raced down to the Eastside to pick the big guy up. We found and confiscated a metal briefcase with over half a million dollars and I'm quite sure they didn't get that much money for their protection rackets and drug smuggling.'
