Returning to the present: The Interrogation Room

'And... that was the last time you saw me until last night,' Darksun had finished telling his story to Jake.

Although Jake already knew what he remembered quite well, he was still taking in Darksun's experience of those same events. On the other side of the room, the others were trying to understand what had been said.

'Is that kid for real?' Commissioner Burton said before continuing, 'am I supposed to believe that five years ago Darksun was the missing kid who may have been responsible for the Chad Miller Case?'

Despite Burton's denial, Steve countered his disbelief with plausible evidence, 'actually Sir it makes sense, I've crossed-checked his story with the Chad Miller case. His wounds matched what Darksun did to his recent victims, not to mention that thanks to those injuries, Chad Miller was indeed identified to the raping and murder of the Jane Doe from five years ago. From what I was able to find out, he's been serving his sentence in the psychiatric wing of the state prison since the incident.'

'The girl from two nights ago must have served as a motive for Darksun to attack those two thugs. If he hadn't stopped them, that girl would have ended up like the dead Jane Doe from five years before,' added Mia.

After they finished their debate, they checked in on Darksun and Officer O'Neil's conversation. Jake kept playing over the events from the last five years, in his head.

Finally, he collected his thoughts enough to interrogate Darksun, 'ok but I still don't get it. After what happened with Chad, you ran and this whole time you've been hanging out in the streets, you haven't had the decency to call your parents to tell them that you're safe!? What the fuck is wrong with you?!'

'Look Jake, I had my reasons okay. I mean after what happened at school, I couldn't go home. I didn't want my own mother to see me like this,' Darksun quickly responded.

Though Jake was not finished, 'honestly I think you've overestimated what your parents were thinking about when you ran away. After what happened at school, I took the car and drove around all over LA looking for you! You may have told your part of the story, but you're gonna have to listen to my half! Maybe then you'll learn about the hell you've put all of us through!'

After everyone in the two rooms heard how Eddie Castillo had changed, it was Jake's turn to tell what happened the moment after Eddie ran away.

Five years ago...
After several hours of driving around the neighbourhoods looking for Eddie, Jake headed back to Lincoln Heights, hoping that Eddie may have returned home.

Jake arrived at the Castillo's home, where the police were already there investigating Eddie's disappearance. The police had to barricade the house in case news reporters and journalists appeared, causing problems with the investigations connected to Chad Miller.

Jake was spotted by Alejandro and was allowed to come in, 'it's really good to see you Jake, despite what happened. Maybe you can help tell the police what you know so they can start finding my son.'

'I was hoping he made it home alright, but I'll do what I can Mr. Castillo. But if I may ask, where is Mrs. Castillo?' replied Jake.

Alejandro pointed towards his wife talking with the detective in charge of the investigation, 'I know this must be difficult for you Mrs. Castillo, but do you have any idea why your son would disappear from school? Was he in any trouble with any gangs or with the law?' The detective asked.

Like any protective mother, Esperanza responded, 'no I don't know any reason except that he always had to deal with bullies ever since elementary school because of his Asperger's Syndrome. And I know my son would never get involved with gangs, he's a good boy, I just want my baby boy back home, please just find him por favor!'
