Patience

In the past we buried our sorrows
For the sake of reconciliation
Hope to find affiliation
Our own people sold us out
And left us with little, a bit of doubt
About tomorrow

Instead we found separation
Still going strong in the land

If that was not bad
Talk about indigenous language
Withering away
always remember the Khoisan
Were they not the first to be banned?
On home soil

The regimes legacy took its toll
On the health of this rainbow nation
We now find ourselves in
Years after we were given the keys
To the doors with changed locks
Yet they still asked us to knock

So we waited 25 years
Till we could wait no more
Then we kicked down those doors
That held us back
Threw away the keys
And made way for the rest to follow
The children of tomorrow

In the past we buried our sorrows
For the sake of reconciliation
Little did we know
We were in need of a confrontation
With the truth...
