Chapter Five

The next day, Shouto met Izuku outside of school so they could walk to class. Shouto insisted they hold pinkies the way there; He said he saw it in a manga once.

They got to class, and while they were at their seperate desks, Bakugou entered the classroom. He slumped off his backpack on his desk, then nonchalantly held out something for Shouto. The cat plushie!

"Oh, Thank you." Bakugou shrugged, but before he could sulk away, Shouto gave him a small but genuine smile. Shou was never one to be highly expressive- although he was moreso when he was regressed- but the small but sweet gift made Shouto happy, albeit confused. He then went to sit at Midoriya's desk to show him the nice present, and to chat before the bell rang. As he did so, he could feel Bakugou glancing at him. Looking, then looking away, over and over.

Later in the day, they had hero practice and quirk training. They would be teamed into pairs, sparring against another team of two. The goal was to restrain one of your opposing team members. Once they were restrained- like wrapped in tape, pinned to the ground, etc- They were out. Todoroki was paired with Sero, and he was opposing Koda and Shoji. Bakugou and Izuku were completely separated (for their teammates saftey).

Todoroki didnt even use half of his power. He figured, the close quarters of the match made it too easy for him to seriously injure one of his classmates. He would have to use his ice power to prevent his two opponents from reaching Sero. The plan was for Sero to use his long range tape quirk to restrain the opponents, while Todoroki practiced using his powers defensively.

That is, until something unexpected happened.

Sero had successfully stuck Koda to his tape, but accidently sent him lunging toward Todoroki! Busy defending against Shoji's arms with his flame quirk, he couldn't expect or get away from Koda's body flying high speed toward him quick enough, causing him and his classmate tumbling toward the ground with a loud thud.

"DAMMIT SOY SAUCE!" Someone shouted suddenly. In a flash, Bakugou ran towards the scene, discarding his grenade bracers along the way. He dropped to his knees in front of the boy, immediately grabbing his face.

"I-I'm so sorry Todoroki!" Sero exclaimed.

Deku, still distracted by his own match, had yet to take in the commotion around him.
"Look!" Some of his classmates called. "Looks like Todoroki's hurt..." he could hear Momo whisper. This made his ears perk up and finally register what's happened. His heart sped up and his brain was in a panic as he realized that his baby was hurt.
