As I sat at the little table with Callie I kept zoning out. She was going on and on about something but I wasn't actually listening. I had my head in my hand and my elbow resting on the table. Callie was still talking.
"Such a bitch."
"What'd you call me?" I hadn't been listening.
"Not you stupid. If you would pay attention you would know what I'm talking about."
"Oh, my bad." I took a drink out of my sweet tea.
"Are you alright Avery?"
"Yeah why?"
"Because you're totally not here."
"Sorry. Just thinking."
"Are you and Sara alright?"
"What? Of course, we are. Why would you ask that?"
"Because you're only like this when somethings off, and usually it's about Sara."
"No everything's fine. I'm just in my head."
"Mhm, and I'm as tall as Dillon."
"Come on we better get going, we have practice in 45 minutes." Callie gave me a look and got up to throw away our food.
--------------------------------------
We're almost done with practice and I can't get out of my head. Every time we stop to reset the play or something I keep thinking of Sara. I just want to see her. I know we're not fighting but I feel like I'm in trouble. I feel bad when I go out with Callie, but she's my friend. But then again Sara's my girlfriend and I don't want to upset her. I want to get out of here.
"Alright ladies line up." Thank god. We just have to run then we're done with practice.
As soon as practice was over I went to the locker room and changed. I wanted to get out of here and see Sara as soon as humanly possible. I was already walking out of the locker room and out into the hall when I heard someone call my full name.
"Avery where you going so fast?" Callie asked.
"I have a hot date waiting on me. I'll talk to you later." I smiled walking backwards then turning around to get the hell out of here.
I got in my car and started the engine. Is it weird that I miss her so much even though it's only been like a few hours since I saw her this morning? The 7-minute drive back to the apartment was absolute hell. It's 5:10 and there's a lot of traffic because everyone's getting out of work. When I finally get back to the apartments parking lot I park in my space and get my back pack and my basketball back pack out of the car. I walked up the stairs to the 3rd level and pulled my key out of one of my bags. As I'm walking into my apartment I hear laughing. I round the corner and see Alex and Sara sitting on the couch talking. I walk over to the couch and bend down to hug Sara.
"Hi my love." Sara says. I then pick Sara up over my shoulder.
"Avery what the hell are you doing?" Sara says over my back.
"Sorry to be rude Alex, but I'm taking her. It was nice seeing you." I say as I start to walk Sara over to my room.
"It's okay. I better get going anyways." Alex laughs. Sara's still over my shoulder as Alex walks toward the door.
"Sorry Alex. I'll talk to you later." I can feel her laughing. I walk into my room and throw her on the bed.
"Avery what are you doing?" I smile at her and lay down on her. I feel her wrap her arms around me and pull me in close.
