Chapter 15

"But Sara I'm hungryyyyy." I whined.

"Avery we just stopped an hour ago and you ate a whole footlong from Subway. How are you still hungry?"

"Sitting here is making me want food."

"Ave we're like an hour and a half away."

"Ughhh fine."

Sara and I have been off of school for the past week or so but we had stayed at the apartment because there were because there were a bunch of parties that Sara wanted to go to and I still had practice. Sara and I have been on the road for like 4 and a half hours. We go to school 6 hours away from home. Not too bad but when you're driving it's a pain in the ass. Since I drove on thanks giving Sara's driving now. I've been DJing this entire time, we started off with a little classic rock then some country then some alternative and right now we're listening to Sam Smith. Its Christmas eve and this is the first year since my dad died that I'm actually going to be celebrating it. I'm actually super excited because our families are getting together and we're gonna have a little Christmas thing. I'm really excited to give Sara her gift. She doesn't know I got her anything because we sort of agreed that we weren't doing gifts this year. We spent a lot of money on our parents and my brother and some of Sara's cousins and whatnot. We never actually said or had a conversation about us not getting each other gift but it was implied. Either way I got her an anklet from James Avery. Haha I love that store. On the anklet I put an A charm on it, and I got her an infinity ring. On the inside of the ring I got it engraved with our anniversary date. 12-14-2018.

"Babe are we there yet?" I want to get out of the car already. I get too antsy when I'm in the car for too long.

"Avery, we have like an hour." Sara laughed.

"That's too long." Sara put her hand on my thigh and said

"Shut up and play some music." I did as I was told. I was still playing somewhat slow music and before I knew it I fell asleep. When I woke up it was because Sara was shaking me awake.

"What? I didn't do it?" I muttered half asleep.

"Ave we're here." I sat up and looked out the window to see that we were at my house. The plan is that Sara's going to drop me off and she'll go back to her house. Then later me and my mom and brother will go over later. I grabbed all of my stuff off the car and gave Sara a kiss goodbye. I walked up to the door and knocked. Lucas answered the door.

"Ayyeee dude whats up." He's such a dork. I dropped my stuff and gave him a hug. He's gotten taller in the last couple of months. He even looked buffer. What the hell man. He's had an amazing glow up. His hair is longer too.

"Where's mom?"

"She's inside. She's making an apple pie to take over to the Lots later." I walked inside to see Some girl sitting on the couch. I give Lucas a look.

"Avery this is Amber. I told you about her." He's right. He did. But I didn't think it was the same Amber that played on JV when I was a senior.

"Hey Amby." I didn't realize I said it until I did. That's what we called her in basketball.

"Hey Avery. It's nice to see you." She got up and gave me a hug. I can't wait to tell Sara about this later. I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom opening the oven door.

"Hi mom." She pulled the pie out and set it on the counter.

"Avery your home!" She ran to me and wrapped her arms around me. I really have missed my mom. We stayed like that just hugging for a good while. I'm not a very touchy-feely person but I missed my mom. My mom pulled back and put her hands on my cheeks and looked me up and down.
