It's been almost an hour since Kris said she was coming over. I'm freaking out a little bit. I haven't seen Kris in months. The last time I actually saw her was at a party that Sara dragged me to. Last summer was fun but it still had so much drama. Kris wouldn't talk to me. Every time I called her or tried to text her she wouldn't answer. And the few times that she did she'd give me some bullshit excuse as to why she hadn't text back or whatever. There were a few times that I would see her just at random places and she wouldn't look at me. She'd act like I wasn't there, or like she didn't see me. She was my best friend and she wouldn't even acknowledge my existence.

At that party Sara and I were standing by the bon fire enjoying the music and just chilling. Sara was drinking rum, that was my mistake. I left Sara for a little bit because I went back to our car to fill up her cup and get me a water bottle. I was walking back to the party when I saw Kris walking in the opposite direction with some girl that wasn't Kaylee. She looked at me and then looked away. I ran up to her and put my hand on her shoulder.

"Hey Kris..." I started. The girl she was with gave me a dirty look. Kris turned around and said

"Oh hey Ave." I gave the girl a dirtier look and she backed off. Kris looked at me and we stood there in an awkward silence. I looked into her blue green eyes and for the first time in my life I couldn't tell what she was thinking. I couldn't tell what she was feeling. She then gave me a somewhat sad but knowing look.

"Ave I..." Before she could say anything, I heard everyone start getting really loud and then I heard someone yell Sara's name. Without an ounce of hesitation, I turned around and ran back to the crowd. When I got there Sara and some girl were getting into it on the sand. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her off of the girl. She didn't know it was me and almost threw her elbow into my nose. When she realized it was me she just started laughing and so did I. The girl on the ground though was not laughing, which made us laugh even harder. I recognized the girl on the sand, she was one of Mack's friends. I already knew why Sara was on top of her. Sara kissed me in front of everyone and they all started shouting. We left soon after that.

                                                                  -------------------------------------

I was sitting on the couch playing with my number 4 necklace. Sara was in her room getting dressed. I ran my fingers through my hair and leaned back on the couch. I don't know if I can do this. I got off the couch and went over to Sara's room and stood in the door way. I crossed my arms and leaned against the door post. Sara was putting her shoes on.

"You're seriously leaving?"

"Yes, I'm seriously leaving."

"Why can't you stay?" She looked up from her shoes and stared at me.

"Because I don't like Kris. At all. And I know if I'm here I'm only going to cause problems. Plus, I can't promise I won't hit her." Sara laughed.

"Then just stay. We can beat her up together. It'll be fun. Then we can set her car on fire." Sara just laughed.

"What is it with you and burning shit down?"

"Everything always turns to ash anyways, might as well watch it burn." Sara put her hand on my face and said

"You are absolutely crazy, but its why I love you." I kissed her soft pink lips. Sara pulled back and checked her phone.

"Alex is down stairs." I let out a sigh. At that same moment we heard a knock on the door. I rested my forehead against Sara's. I don't want to do this. Sara pulled back from me and we both walked to the door. I undid the locks and held my breath. My hand hesitated on the handle. Sara laced her fingers in with my other hand. When I opened the door, I saw Kris standing on the other side of it. I felt Sara's whole body stiffen up behind me and her hand tightened around mine. I stood there for a second looking at Kris. Her hairs gotten longer and she looked a little more tanned than usual. Her body language was off, like she didn't know if she was standing right. Like she didn't have confidence in her own balance. Her eyes were bright green, not a hint of blue in them. I could tell from the redness in the white of her eye that she's been crying, but not in the past 30 minutes. She looked down at her shoes and then up at us.
