Avery's POV
I woke up in Sara's bed wearing her hoodie. My head was at a dull ache instead of a full-on headache. I sat up groggy and confused. I looked down and realized I was in the bed by myself. I got out of the bed in a panic. I ran out the door and into the living room. Sara wasn't there. No no no no no. I ran to the kitchen and saw Sara standing in front of the Keurig machine. She turned around and saw me and started
"Oh hey are you..." I cut her off because I ran to her and wrapped my hands around her neck. I didn't realize I wasn't breathing until I felt myself breathe in her coconut shampoo. She wrapped her arms around me, tightly and didn't let go.
"Ave are you okay? What happened?"
"I woke up and you weren't there. I thought maybe I'd dreamt it. That the concussion messed with my head and that you weren't here." Sara held onto me even tighter. She didn't say anything, she just kept holding me. Here, right now, with her arms around me I felt like maybe, just maybe, I would be okay.
"I'm right here." She reassured me. I nodded my head and just held on. After I calmed down a bit Sara let me go and jumped up on the counter. I stood in between her knees and placed my head on her chest. She ran her fingers through my hair.
"Ave..."
"Yeah?"
"Why is your hair all wavy now?" I laughed a little bit.
"I don't know. It just started doing that." She kept running her fingers through my hair, and laughed a bit.
"What?"
"Nothing. I think it looks pretty." I pulled back and looked at her.
"But?" I challenged.
"But you're so copying my hair." I just laughed and pulled her face into mine so I could kiss her. I felt her smile against my lips. I'm so in love with this girl. When the Keurig made a noise, I pulled back from Sara and grabbed her coffee. I looked at the microwave clock, 2:15. I was starting to get a pain in my temple so I gave Sara her coffee and then said
"Can we go lay down?" She nodded her head and jumped off the counter. She followed me back to her room where I got in her bed and laid down on my side. She set the coffee down on her nightstand and laid down facing me. I leaned in and kissed her forehead. I felt her hand grab mine under the blankets. We laid there for a second just staring at each other.
"How have you been?" She whispered.
"Truth?" She nodded her head.
"It's been hell."
"Yeah. Me too. Alex said that no one saw you or heard from you for days. I got worried." I looked down then back up at her.
"Yeah I didn't leave the apartment. Honestly I didn't get out of bed." Sara put her hand on my cheek and gave me a sad look.
"What about you?"
"I mostly cried for a couple days straight. Presley was no help. She just left and Alex would come and stay with me during the days." I returned her sad look.
"Yeah I know. Alex kept texting me updates on how you were."
"She did?" She was surprised.
"Yeah. She didn't tell you?"
"No. That's not fair. She didn't tell me how you were at all."
"Probably because I didn't ever text her back." Sara just gave another sad smile, and we just stared at each other a while longer.
