'-they aren't home right now, so I guess we can go out now, before they start interrogating me.' Bubbles spoke softly into her phone.
'Are you sure?' The voice at the end of the line replied. Boomer was still very uncertain if Bubbles wanted to keep their relationship as it was now. The blues saw how the greens were and without Blossom's daily 'expert advice', Bubbles was deterred from her good ways.
Bubbles and Boomer talked about when they'd meet and where they would do so. Bubbles walked over to her closet, picking out a short skirt and a tank top. Then she went to do her makeup, and left her hair down.
Black eyeliner?
According to Bubbles, she liked it winged now.
As she walked into the restaurant, Boomer almost didn't recognise Bubbles. He did a double take on what she was wearing.
She was wearing the shortest of skirts and the thinnest of tank tops.
Bubbles was twisting and turning the stick of her lollipop as she peered around. A smile lit up on her face when she caught sight of Boomer.
Her thick platform heels echoed through the small restaurant.
Bubbles shuffled into the little booth, opposite to Boomer.
Boomer couldn't help but stare. What the hell had gotten into Bubbles? He tried to look her up and down as subtly as he could.
Somehow Bubbles still noticed his gaze. 'What? You like my new look?' She smiled joyfully.
'I-umm-yeah, it's nice...(?)' Boomer responded with a uneasy tone.Bubbles pulled off her jean jacket, Boomer really couldn't help but ogle a bit more.
She looked at him before making conversation.'Boomer.'
No reply.
'Boomie?'
Nothing.
'Boomer.' She said louder, snapping her finger in front of him.
'Y-Yea? Oh umm... I was just looking at your... umm... cle-clothes. Your clothes... umm they're very interesting. You looked quite different yesterday though. Did you get these clothes today? They don't really sui-'
'Suit me? I like them. Anything else you want to talk to me other than that?' Bubbles shut him down instantly.
It made Boomer a bit uncomfortable, this wasn't Bubbles, new clothes? And this personality?
'Well, umm we can order. Right?' Boomer smiles hesitatingly, he pushed the menu over to Bubbles, who spent some time looking at what she should get.
At last the pair decided on getting 2 vanilla milkshakes.
Suddenly, Boomer made a loud groan, and he buried his face in his hands.
'Boomie what's wrong?' Bubbles tilted her head, it gave him a quick memory of how she used to do that, with her pigtails, and the puffy sundresses she'd wear.
'Bubbles, just stop it.'
'Stop what?'
Did she genuinely not know?
'This. I don't get what you're trying to do?! This isn't you!'
'Me?' Bubbles mocked, putting up a hand to point at her chest.
'I just don't understand why you've been like this for the past few weeks and I don't get why you can't sort out whatever is going between you and your sisters. I think you should just talk to them! As much as I know, you've been trying to get me to take you out for most of the time. Spend some time with them. Tell them what's going o-'
'No.'
'What?'
'I said no.'
'Who are you even? This ain't you.'
'I'm sorry, excuse me?'
'This isn't how Bubbles would've been if she tried to make her sisters understand what was actually going on!'
'Boomer you don't get it!' She shouted across the table, she looked hurt, her eyes were still as sincere as they always were.
'What don't I get?'
'How hard it is when one of them doesn't talk and the other just... does it. You know, it, all the time. I feel so neglected, so alone. Boomer, I really like you. I feel like if you don't like me like this then you... you just don't like me at all.
I regret ever finding you after you guys left.
It might even have been better if you didn't save me.'
Bubbles got up to leave, her head ached.
'Bubbles! That's not what I meant!' Boomer yelled, all the other customers were looking at them by now. Confused faces everywhere.
'Boomer, don't touch me.' Bubbles inched back as Boomer's hand came towards her.
Just as she pushed open the door. She looked back once more,
'Falling again was a mistake. It's not your fault, it's mine. I feel sorry for myself. Again.'
