Takes place after Season 10. Monastery of Spinjitzu. In this one-shot, Kai's eyes are grey, resembling the color of ashes after a fire. Sue me. 3rd Person. P.O.V:
Lloyd was frustrated.
Not because even though he recovered from the Oni's attack, he wasn't allowed to leave the Monastery, in case something else tries to kill him. Which happens on a normal basis, but the others didn't want to risk anything so soon after he almost died.
No, it was because the candy he managed to convince Jay to buy him yesterday was gone. It had taken him over an hour to convince Jay to do it, and he was so happy that Jay got a super large bag for him.
But now it was gone.
Lloyd let out a irritated sigh and continued his search, ducking in and out of every room after thoroughly examining it. The only rooms he didn't go in was Nya's, he valued his life, and Kai's.
The only reason he didn't go into Kai's room was because he wasn't home. After his break-up with Skylar a couple months ago, Kai had hardly ever been in the Monastery for longer than two days, only giving the vague excuse of wanting to be left alone. Sensei let him, as long as Kai completes 30 minutes of stretches, 2 hours of physical training, and 20 minutes of meditation a day. Kai had, surprisingly, kept on top of it and has hardly been home. Lloyd was not about to go rummaging through Kai's room without his knowledge or permission to be in there, but what if his candy was in there? He knew it was childish, but he had the roughest two months of his life. He almost died, then was bed ridden for a month, then was only permitted to stand and do stretches for three weeks before he was allowed to roam around. He had been cleared by Sensei yesterday, but was still forbidden from leaving the Monastery for awhile.
The candy had been the only highlight of his misery, seeing as he hadn't had any since before the Sons of Garmadon fiasco.
And now it was gone and Kai's room was the only place he hadn't looked. Lloyd sighed and after a heated internal debate, decided to go into Kai's room since Kai wasn't home and probably wouldn't be for a little bit longer. Swallowing back apprehension, he turned the knob and entered Kai's room.
It wasn't that extravagant; his bed in the far right corner, a nightstand next it, a desk along the left wall with a dresser in the near left corner. There was a small rack of weapons on the right wall, a few feet from the bottom of the bed. At the bottom of the bed, was a trunk. Lloyd assumed that was where Kai kept his more personal belongings. Lloyd checked the hallway one more time before he started looking around.
He found nothing.
Lloyd sighed in defeat and stood up from his crouching position, where he had been looking underneath Kai's bed. He turned to go, only to notice a lump under Kai's pillow. After another quick check, Lloyd moved the pillow.
It was a journal.
More than that, it was Kai's journal. Their Sensei made them all get a journal, so they can vent about things that are bothering them so their burdens weren't so heavy on their backs. It was a way to prevent them from getting too stressed or distracted in a fight.
Lloyd knew he should put it back, but he was overcome with curiosity. He hardly ever talked to Kai nowadays, it would be nice to know what Kai has been doing lately.
