We pulled up outside Alice's house at 5:30 when she had finally finished getting ready. We walked to the door and were greeted by Sammy who ran out the door before we could even get there. He ran straight to Alice and she picked him up. she hugged him tight and kissed the top of his head over and over again.

"Hey Sammy" it looked like she was trying to hold back tears of joy.

"Ali! Ali! Ali! You came back!" he said and kissed her cheek.

"Of course I did!"

"I thought you left!"

"I would never leave you" she said and looked at him. A stray tear fell and I wiped it away before Sam could see. She looked up at me and mouthed thank you. I smiled back and kissed her temple softly.

"Jake!" Alice called as he walked down the stairs.

"Ali!" he said and came over to us with a big shiny grin. "I didn't know whether or not you were ever coming back"

"Of course I would come back. I'm not that harsh" she said punched his shoulder. I gave him a quick bro hug before he hugged around Sam and I felt like I was intruding. I walked away from the family reunion and saw Sylvie coming down the hall. I gave her a smile and she looked at me with an annoyed expression.

"Alice" she called completely ignoring me.

"Hey Sylvie" she said and then noticed her expression. She put Sam down who took Jake's hand. Jake walked off with him and they disappeared into a room.

"Where have you been?"

"I've been with Oliver"

"What?!" she asked with wide eyes.

"Wait, I thought Jake told you!"

"He said you've been staying at Lucy's place"

"Oh" she said and looked down. "I'm sorry Sylvie" a different expression came over her face which surprised me.

"Oh, I don't mind" she said and waved her hand at us. "I just don't like being lied to. I knew Jake seemed a little suss when he told me. I thought maybe you two had gone off and eloped"

"What?!" Alice asked, blushing immediately.

"Oh come on, I can see how you two look at each other. How can you blame me?" she said and smiled. I didn't know what to say to her and I kept my head low. "Anyway, dinner will be ready at around six. You two can go wait around until then"

"Ok" Alice said finally raising her face. "Let's go to my room"

"Alright"

"Alice, could I just have a word to you without Oliver. Sorry"

"No worry. I'll meet you up there" I said and released her hand. As I was walking up the stairs I winked to Alice who was watching me.

When Alice finally came in, she was blushing furiously and was trying to avoid looking at me. She went into her walk in wardrobe without a word. I got up and followed her in.

"Are you ok?" I asked and wrapped my arms around her waist from behind.

"Well that must have been the most awkward conversation ever" she said and put her hand up to her face to hide herself. I spun her around and looked at her.

"What did she say?"

"Well, let's just say she gave me a quick run over of 'the talk' and gave me 'extra protection' for us" she said and brought her other hand up to hide her face.
