He had trailed off and was looking down at his chart. I was going crazy at his speed.
"Well?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just checking something. The baby's father is a Todd Stevens" he said and I felt my heart skip a beat. I was stunned. It was Todd's baby.
"Could you just repeat that?" Lucy asked from behind me.
"The boy, Marcus, you mentioned is not the father. Todd Stevens is the father. Congratulations on your blessing. Have a fabulous day. Oh and you are set to come in for a check up in late January"
"Thanks" she said in a dreamy voice as she stared wide mouthed at the doctor's back.
"You heard it too didn't you?" I asked and she nodded. Suddenly, she was sobbing. I held onto her worried but saw she was smiling. They were tears of joy.
"Oh my goodness, Oliver. It's Todd's. It isn't Marcus's baby. I can't believe it!"
"I know!" I exclaimed.
"It's all thanks to you Oliver" she said and pulled back. "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had the test and I would have thought it was Marcus's"
"You would have found out eventually" I said shrugging.
"Whatever you say, Mr Modest" she said and rolled her eyes. "We still have a problem though"
"We need to find Todd" I said, reading her mind.
"Yeah" she whispered and I could see the fear in her eyes. Even though it is Todd's kid, I didn't know if he would take her back because of it. He might still be angry at her sleeping with Marcus.
"You go back to my apartment in your car and let Alice know that I'm going out for a while. I'll be back. Tell her the news. Also, call Todd's parents and let them know it's his baby and they may pass on the news"
"Alright" she said and nodded.
"I'll see you later" I said and gave her a departing hug.
"Thanks again Oliver" she said with a sad smile.
"You know, you haven't called me lover boy in a while" I said with a smirk.
"Don't get too comfortable. As soon as I'm back and running on all cylinders, you'll wish you never said that"
"I'm shaking in my boots" I said and she chuckled walking away. Now, I need to find Todd.
"Hello?"
"Carlos?"
"I swear to god Oliver, I told you before you can't call me"
"Well, first of all this is really important and second of all I haven't done anything to attract the police's attention so I don't know what your problem is"
"What do you want Oliver?" he sighed after a moment of hesitation.
"I need to find someone"
"Why?"
"Because he is going to be a father soon and he's missing"
"You're pregnant? Congratulations. When is the baby shower?" he asked sarcastically.
"I was thinking sometime in April" I said seriously before shaking y head. "Dickhead"
"I was just joking Oliver"
"You were never the joking type"
"People change" he said nonchalantly. "Who do you need to find?"
"His name is Todd Stevens. He's 19, blonde hair and brown eyes. Tall, solid build. I can probably get you a photo"
"Have you got one on your phone?" he asked.
