***************************

As I stood on the doorstep with Lucy and Alice, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I mean, who wouldn't? The reason I was so nervous was because I was worried that they would think I was the one who knocked her up since I was the only guy there.

We all stood up straighter as we heard the knob twisting on the door to reveal our welcomer. Lucy was looking pale but had a brave game face on despite her fears.

"Lucy sweetheart, what are you doing here?" Lucy's mum greeted her and looked to Alice and me.

"Is dad here?"

"He's just in the lounge room. Why?"

"I need to tell you both something" Lucy said and pushed into the house before there was any further questioning. Alice and I followed Jennifer into the house and I looked around at the nice outlaying. There was antiques spread out all over the place but it didn't look cluttered. It was a very nice looking house and it a certain feel to it. it was different to Alice's home. It felt more lived in. Like there had been family dinners held at the table and muffins baked by Jennifer and Lucy in the kitchen and the family watching a movie in the lounge room. It just felt more like a family home than Alice's.

"So what's wrong dear?" Jennifer asked as she took a seat next to her husband who I didn't know. I didn't even know their last name.

"Seat down Ol, Alice" she told us and we sat down on the adjacent lounge. We all looked to Lucy who was standing with one arm around her stomach and the other up she could bite her fingernails nervously.

"Well?" her dad pressed.

"I'm pregnant" she said in a calm voice that wasn't rushed and I was surprised.

"What!?" her father boomed and stood.

"Arthur!" Jennifer scolded him. She jumped up and ran to Lucy's side. "How can you be mad at your daughter for saying something like that!? Anyway, we all knew Todd would want to settle down sometime soon" Alice sighed while I grimaced my face.

"It's not Todd's" Lucy whispered and I thought I could just hear the sound of her voice cracking at the end.

"What?" her mother's voice had suddenly taken on a dark tone.

"Look, it's a long story"

"One that we will be told right this instance" Jennifer interrupted her with a demanding voice.

 "Mum"

"No whining Lucy, you will tell me right now whose baby it is"

"Is it you!?" Arthur suddenly bellowed at me while his finger pointed in my direction with intention to kill.

"No! No, I'm with Alice" I said and shook my head vigorously. Lucy actually started laughing at his accusation.

"Lover boy over there? As if, he's practically the brother I never had" Lucy claimed and Arthur apologised gruffly to me.
