Chapter 6: perfect

"I forget you exist when I get away from you." I smirk.

"I might have to change that. Come in." He lives out of the doorway and I walk in.

Even his house was perfect, he had everything- his life was perfect like him. I sigh quietly before noticing someone walk down the stairs.

"Oh hey you must be ruels friend. I'm Kate his mum!" She beams, with the same happy energy that Ruel puts out.

"I'm Madi." I smile. Her eyes widen and she smiles.

"Oh you're Madi.."

"Mum that's enough." Ruel cuts her off and she smirks.

"Behave kids!" She giggles and walks out the room.

"Talking about me Van Dijk?" I cross my arms.

"There's much to say about you Carson." He grins.

"I bet." I roll my eyes.

"The other girls are coming later, so some alone time." He winks and I roll my eyes.

"I will leave if you make another joke like that." I bossed.

"What joke, just some alone time to get to know each other." He smirks.

"Wow funny." I roll myself. I hold in a laugh, he always had a way to twist things around.

"Let's go upstairs, don't worry pg rated, how will your dirty mind cope?" He teases.

"You put it in the wrong context, I'm not dirty mined!" I stated.

"Whatever you say princess." He starts walking up the stairs and I follow.

"What happened to Spanish?" I raise my eyebrow.

"Kinda gave up." He shrugs.

"You learnt two of the easiest words." I giggle a little.

"True but I think I want to change from Spanish to music uh." He contemplates.

"You're good at music so do it, better than failing Spanish." I reply.

Wait for it.

"Awe princess you think I'm good at music." He smirks.

Typical but I was getting used to his comments and as much I hated admitting I actually didn't mind it.

"Oh shush- you know you are good." I roll my eyes playfully and he laughs.

We reach his bedroom and I look around, god even his bedroom was perfect.

"Where are the pictures of me?" I joke.

"Had to take them down, can't seem to creepy." He jokes back. Well I hope.

I notice a guitar sitting beside his bed. I stare at it for a bit,

"Do you play?" He asks me.

"I used too but I sucked." I shrug.

"I don't believe that, show me!" He smiles.

I guess I'll give it a go. I pick it up and start stringing some cords.

"You aren't even bad Madi." He sits down on his desktop chair and I sit on the edge of his bed.

"Don't jinx me!" I groan.

I start messing around with some cords and I stop when I hear Ruel start singing. I knew he had a good voice but this was angelic- his voice was perfect. Of course!

"Um let's do something else." I suggest, I'm not here to admire his voice and think how perfect he is.

"Sure, lets go downstairs." He replies and I nod.

We both walk downstairs and I follow him out to his backyard.

My heart starts beating fast, my breath hitches and I start panicking.

'You are okay Madi!!' I try convince myself.

"Let's go for a swim." Ruel says before taking off his shirt and jumping into the pool.

"I rather not strip for you." I cross my arms. I make an excuse, to make everything seem normal.

"Oh come on I'm not asking you to strip, just jump in with your clothes." He suggests.

"It's looks cold." I make another excuse.

"It's not I swear." He pushes his wet hair back.

"I don't believe you." I declare.

Ruel hops out and a smirk appears on his wet lips. Before I realised anything, his arms were around my legs and my back. He runs towards the pool and then it hit me.

Water rushed over my head, the same memory appeared from 2 years ago. I try swim to the top but I wasn't getting anywhere. I panic, is this really how I was going to die?

I sink to the bottom, I had given up- my eyes slowly start to close before I see Ruel's face swimming down towards me. His large arms wrap around my tiny body and he pulls me up to the surface.

I catch a breath and hold onto his shoulders. My heart was racing and I felt sick. I cough water out while he walks to the shallow end.

"What's wrong with you?" Ruel scolds me.

Memories flood me and I couldn't think of a sassy comeback neither did I want to say one. Instead tears rush down my face like a rapid waterfall that wasn't going to stop anytime soon. My tears drop onto his shoulder.

"I'm sorry- I didn't mean to be mean- why didn't you swim?" He looks at me confused.

"I-I-I can't swim." I choke on my sob.

"I'm sorry- hey you're okay now." He reassures me and pulls me closer to him.

His embrace was something I've never experienced before. I felt safe wrapped in his huge arms. His hug was like velvet, warm and comforting.

I look up at him, he was so caring and loving. Why Madi? Why must you hate him? He's the sweetest boy that I've met. I just told him my biggest secret and he didn't even ask questions like 'how could you not know how to swim?' 'You should know how to swim!'. He just acknowledged my words and just comforted me- if I were him I would ask questions and would want to know more.

No words came out but tears flow down. He cups my face and I look at him with my tears streaming down his hands.

"Princess I'm holding you, I won't let anything happen." He whispers and instantly my tears begin to stop- that rapid waterfall that was impossible to stop was stopped with 8 simple words by him.

"Please don't let go." I find myself sniffing into his shoulder.

"I won't- now stop your pretty little eyes from tearing, you'll over flow my pool." He amuses and holds on me tighter.

I laugh, I understand why he does that? Makes everything amusing- it was a funnier perspective. It actually lighten the mood and it made you more relax. And I used to hate it when he made everything amusing.

"I'll try." I giggle still trying to stop the sniffles.

I hold onto his tighter, I was too short to keep holding his shoulder so I wrap my arms around his chest.

"Ruel your friends at here!" Kate yells from inside.

Ruel and I part before getting out of the water. He passes me a towel and I wrap it around myself.

"Ruel thankyou." I smile.

-Ruel's POV-

Madi smiled at me! This was the first time, often she smiles near me but never at me.
