~ Vic's POV ~
Thirteen years. Thirteen years after Paige took her life, and all because of me. She didn't deserve me, I hurt her and I didn't realize it. Paige deserved someone better, someone who wouldn't hurt her. I didn't mean to, it was all Lisa. If Lisa hadn't kissed me, I wouldn't have lost Paige.
~Flashback~
I was walking Mike to his classroom and waiting for Paige. She was so shy at school, it was adorable. Paige was at her locker grabbing books and I was talking to some of Mike's friends. We were laughing and just being boys I guess, it was the first time I could in forever because I was always with Paige, I didn't mind though, Paige was everything to me.
I was smiling at a joke that one of Mike's friends made when I felt someone's lips on mine. I was shocked at first then pulled away and saw Lisa there.
"What the fuck? I'm in a relationship!" I basically yelled at Lisa.
"You don't need that slut though." Lisa said to me.
"You'e the slut, not her. Leave me the fuck alone!" I turned my head over to Paige's locker to not see her, but her books were on the ground. I turned back to Lisa, "I swear to God, if she hurts herself because of this, you will regret it." I growled right before the bell rung, signalling that we were all late.
"No I won't," Lisa said before she walked off.
I was fuming. Lisa had no right to kiss me, and I knew I needed to find Paige, but I didn't know where to start.
~ Flashback over ~
Tears flooded my vision as the memory filled my head. It was my fault, but it was also Lisa's fault that Paige took her life. I covered my mouth with my hand and let a sob escape my mouth. Pierce the veil took off years ago, and I was glad I could finally live my dream, but I hated not having Paige by my side. The other guys were out and I was just sitting in our tour bus, crying over the girl I love, not loved, love with all my heart.
After Paige killed herself, I wanted to go back to self harming, but I had promised her that I would never self harm again, and I kept that promise. All my past scars faded and I didn't get any new ones, that helped me a tiny bit.
I pulled my song book out from under my pillow and took Paige's suicide note out of it. Her words that hurt the most were, "My love for you was bulletproof but you're the one who shot me" I turned those words into lyrics, a song basically supposed to be from her perspective but with how I feel too.
It was the best time of my life, but now I sleep alone
Those lyrics were how I felt. When I was with her, even when she couldn't remember me, it was the best time of my life, but when she killed herself, I went back home and I slept alone. I felt sad, I felt lonely, I felt like my entire world came crumbling down and there was nothing I could do about it. Paige died, thinking I cheated on her.
I ran my fingers over her note. Her handwriting was so beautiful, and I missed it. As strange as it may sound, I missed even her handwriting. I never went to her funeral, I couldn't handle it and plus it was really small and only Jaime, Tony, Sally, Jordan, and Mike went. I couldn't handle it. I just couldn't. The day of her funeral, I stayed home, writing a song for her that took me forever to write, it's called Hold on till May.
I heard the door to the tour bus open then I heard Mike's familiar voice. We were about to go to San Diego so Mike was going to get to visit Sally, Tony could visit Jordan, and Jaime could visit his girlfriend that he meant at school, her name is Jessica, I was still single. I had only had two girlfriends after Paige passed, and the relationships only lasted a couple weeks.
Sally hated me, she read the note before I did then gave me the note and yelled at me after I read it. I was sobbing, I couldn't control my emotions and Sally didn't make it any better by yelling.. I remember the entire conversation..
"You're the reason she did this Vic!" Sally yelled at me as tears ran down my face. "If you hadn't cheated on her, this wouldn't have happened!"
"I didn't cheat, I didn't cheat on her!" I said through sobs.
"She called me! She said that you kissed Lisa! You are a lying son of a bitch! I hate you Victor! Paige was my little sister! Are you even sorry?" Sally yelled as I choked on tears, tears were also running down her cheeks.
"Why the hell wouldn't I be sorry? She's the only fucking girl I've been in love with!" I yelled, losing my mind when Sally said I didn't seem sorry. "She's gone, my world, my happiness is gone! How the hell do you think that I'm not sad? SHE WAS MY EVERYTHING!" I decided to get quiet, "I didn't cheat, Lisa kissed me and I pushed her off me... I love Paige, I need her..." I fell down onto my knees and started sobbing.
"You're a fucking liar Vic." Sally spat. "Get out, I don't want to see you, and don't you ever speak to me again."
Sally and I hadn't spoke since that day, and every time she looks at me, it's with disgust.
"Vic, you still in here?" Mike asked, causing me to move my bunk curtain. "Holy shit are you crying?"
"Y-yeah..." I trailed off.
"Why? Are you okay?" Mike asked as he sat down next to my bunk on the floor.
"Why do you think? It's been almost thirteen years since I lost her, Mike... Thirteen years..."
Mike sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Vic, we all miss the hell out of her, but it's been almost thirteen years now, you need to get yourself a new girl and you need to realize that she's not coming back. Yes, i know she's the only girl you ever truly loved, but come one man, thirteen years. It was thirteen years ago, I don't like seeing you sad all the time..." Mike trailed off.
"I wish I wasn't this sad either, but she was the love of my life and I can never see her again. I love her, and it's my fault..."
Fuck, did I say that out loud? I thought.
"What do you mean it's your fault?" Mike questioned.
"I can show you her note..." I trailed off. "I kept it, Sally and I are the only two that have seen it..." I trailed off.
"Sally told me that she didn't leave a note though," Mike said.
"Paige did leave a note though," I said, holding back tears. "Here," I handed him Paige's suicide note.
I watched Mike's eyes as he read the paper, he kept a straight face so I didn't know what he was thinking.
"Vic," He finally spoke, "It's not your fault, she thought you cheated when you didn't, I was there, it was all Lisa's fault." Mike said as he handed me back the note. "I see why you wrote bulletproof love though, is it basically supposed to be how she felt?"
"Yeah, but also how I felt, like 'It was the Best time of my life but now I sleep alone' is about how I was truly happy when I was with her but when she passed, I slept alone and it ruined me." I shrugged.
"Wait, so is Sally not speaking to you anymore because she thinks that you cheated on Paige?" Mike asked me.
"Y-yeah, it is..." I trailed off.
"Well, when we get back to San Diego, I'm going to get Sally to talk to you, alright?" I nodded slightly. "Alright, well I'm going to go get Hime and Tone, we gotta get on the road."
"Alright, I'm going to take a nap, it was good talking you about Paige..."
"No problem, that's what brothers are for."
