The next day, Logan woke up, got dressed, and took a walk.

He was still confused about Patton's emotions. Logan had never really been good with emotions, but he could tell that something was wrong. His eyes had this.. strangeness about them. Something he recognized. Something he recognized from all the way back in middle school, the same look in his eyes that Patton had whenever they made eye contact in the hallways. A look of absolute fear and sadness mixed together. It was.. horrible.

Logan couldn't stop thinking about it, especially when he saw Patton's bakery up ahead. Logan stopped in his tracks- he had two options.

One, he could turn around, and go home.

Two, he could keep walking, go inside, and talk to Patton.

Logan thought for a few moments, sighed, and walked forward.

Logan entered the small building, just to see Patton behind the counter.

Patton looked up when a small bell attached to the door announced his entrance. "Hello! Welcome to- oh, hey Lo!"

Logan smiled gently, walking up to the counter. "Hello, Patton. How are you?"

"I'm pretty good! What brings you here today?"

"Oh, uh.. I'm not sure. Maybe I could try one of your products, perhaps?"

Patton smiled, giggling. "Sure! Here, follow me, I have some donuts over here you might want to try."

Logan followed Patton farther back into the store. Logan knew he was just stalling himself- he'd have to ask Patton if he was truly alright soon.

They got to a small stand filled with donuts. "Go ahead, take one!"

"How much are they?" Logan asked.

"Uh.." Patton giggled. "It's free. Don't worry about it."

Logan blinked, his face getting a bit hot. "Are you sure?"

"Yes! I'm sure! Now try one!"

Logan blinked again, before reaching out and taking a plain chocolate donut. He took a bite.

Patton watched Logan carefully, examining his face to see if he liked it. Logan had to stop himself from swooning- the donut was amazing.

"Oh.. wow, I-" Logan took another bite, quickly gulping it down. "This is- I- this is outstanding, Patton." Patton giggled as Logan quickly finished off the donut. "And you are sure you don't want me to pay for it?"

Patton giggled again. "Lo, it's fine! I'm just glad you like it!"

Patton smiled up at Logan, and Logan smiled back. Logan felt a lump in his throat- something he wanted to say- come to the tip of his lips as they both went quiet, staring at each other.

Logan quickly said,

"Patton, are you alright?"

Patton blinked, tilting his head to the side slightly. "What.. do you mean?"

"Are you alright? I just.." Logan sighed, "You just seemed very sad, last night, about me having to leave."

Patton crossed his arms in front of him, looking down at the ground. "I.. yeah, I guess. I just, we were getting along so well, and I really like hanging out with you."

Both blushed. "We can always talk on the phone, or FaceTime." Logan added.

"I know, of course. But.. it just.. won't be the same. I guess I just really like going places and doing stuff with you. You're really smart and easy to talk to."

Patton looked back up, both of them slightly flustered by now. "So.. are you." Logan said.

Both stayed quiet, eyes locked. Logan was almost afraid to blink, to breathe, to do anything that could break the contact. He resisted the urge to bite his lip when Patton let his hands go at his sides, one of them brushing against Logan's fingers.

Their hands brushed a second time, and a third, before Logan felt their pinky fingers intertwine. Both of them blushed, their fingers slowly coming together-

Ding

Both of them blushed harder, crossing both arms in front of their chest and looking away. Someone had entered the store.

"I, uh, I should go get that. Customer." Patton chuckled awkwardly.

"Yes, please do, uh.. I should be on my way anyway. I will see you around, Patton.."

"Yeah.."

Both quickly walked to the front of the store, Patton going behind the counter and Logan walking out into the street.

He walked on the sidewalk, in the direction of his apartment, until he saw a bench and sat down.

Logan sighed, holding his red face in his hands. This whole ordeal has become a big problem, and there was no one around who could possibly help him.

Logan flinched as he felt a hand go on his shoulder.

Apparently, help had arrived.
