Chapter 3: Special Plans

All but one Gem returned to their homes for the night- Yellow Diamond had called Jade to her room to speak with her. "My Diamond? You wanted to see me?" Jade asked after Yellow Pearl let her in. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you about your mission. You see, the ship you're being sent on is big enough to carry you three, the Peridot, & her fellow 'Crystal Gems'. If you can, capture the others & bring them back. We have special plans for those traitors," Yellow Diamond said, turned away from the other Gem. Jade's eyes widened. "A-all of the Crystal Gems? What do they have that you need?" Yellow Diamond laughed quietly. "They have the trust of the humans, of course. If they can convince those pathetic organics to work for us, Homeworld can be stronger." She clenched her fist. "You and the other Diamonds want to enlist humans to work for you?"
"Oh yes. They can use what they know about their planet to help us form newer, stronger Gems! And in return, we'll treat them as equals. They'll no longer be considered unfit to exist in this universe." Jade breathed in deeply. "Of course, Yellow Diamond. I will bring back those rebels & I will make sure you get exactly what you desire," she promised. Yellow Diamond smirked. "Good. I know you won't let us down." She turned towards her Jade. "And when you come back, you will be rewarded handsomely. We will make sure you & your friends are considered heroes on Homeworld." Jade imagined that. The three of them would be powerful. They might even get their own Pearls! "Now, you need to rest before your training tomorrow."
"Oh! O-of course! I'll head back to my chambers now," Jade said before bowing and leaving.

After a while, the morning had arrived. And by the time her friends had woken up, Jade was already prepared for that day's training. She was in her room, battling a hologram she had created with her gem. She repeatedly defeated her opponent with ease. She was able to dodge and deflect all attacks gracefully. Jade was about to start another round when she heard a knock on her door. She sighed as her baton & hologram dissipated. "Come in!" She called. The door opened, and in walked a pale green Pearl with her gem on her forehead. "Um, who are you?" Jade asked. "I am your personal Pearl, your clarity," the Pearl replied. Jade's eyes widened in shock. "I-I have a P-Pearl...?"
"Yes, the Diamonds had me made for you. Your friends, Blue Topaz & Pink Coral, have Pearls of their own. While you are on your mission, I will remain here on Homeworld, doing all that I can to make your home suitable for a hero like you." A small smile appeared on Jade's face. "W-well, I should probably head to Yellow Diamond's chambers. For m-my training."
"Of course, your clarity. I shall remain here until you return." Jade was about to leave when she woke up. "I-it was just a dream?" She asked as she rubbed her head. She got out of bed & looked out the window. "Still night time, great..." Jade pulled the blinds back down with a sigh. Why can't I sleep? Am I nervous or something? Why would I be nervous? Jade turned on a light in her room and looked through a book about Earth. "Hmm..." She continued to flip through the book, studying the foreign planet. "Wow, I'm starting to understand why those Crystal Gems like this place so much. It's really interesting." She then turned to a page about the former owner of the Earth colony-Pink Diamond. "Who's this?" She read a page that said: "Pink Diamond, the youngest of the Diamonds, was in charge of the colonization of the planet Earth. Then, one of her own Quartz soldiers started a rebellion and fought her own home planet. After a while, the rebellion won the Gem war. But at a cost-the Quartz's own Diamond was shattered." Jade's eyes widened. "Oh yeah, I forgot about that." Jade continued her research for a few more hours when she heard a knock at her door. "C-come in!" She called as she frantically hid her book. Topaz & Coral walked through the door and into Jade's room. "Jade? How long have you been up?" Topaz asked his friend. "A few hours. Just st-studying."
"Studying what?"
"Earth." Jade showed her friends the book. "'History of Planet Earth'? Interesting. What's it about?"
"Its inhabitants, customs, Kindergartens, P-Pink Diamond..."
"Pink Diamond? Wait, why have you been studying Earth? It's not like we're gonna be there for very long."
"W-well, I wanted to see what the Crystal Gems liked about it so much. I understand why they wanted to protect it-It's such a beautiful place. I didn't get to see much of it during the war." Coral & Topaz looked at each other. "A-are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Maybe..." They all knew what Jade was thinking-She wanted to protect the Earth. "B-but, I'd never disobey Yellow Diamond! I'm her most trusted Jade!" Her friends nodded.
"Of course."
"Well, we'd better get going. We don't wanna make Yellow Diamond wait."
