Chapter 14: Get Back To Work!

Once they got back, Steven was shocked to see that his home had been almost destroyed. "My stuff!" He cried. "It's okay, Steven. I'm sure we can fix it. Right, Garnet?" Pearl asked her leader. "Yes, we can get it back to normal soon, I promise." Steven ran upstairs to his room and looked for something. "Thank goodness it's okay!"
"What is?" Connie asked. "My photo of you! I was worried they wrecked it, but they didn't!" Connie and Steven hugged. "Well, fighting as Iolite was fun, huh?" Garnet asked. "Really fun. Though, she does seem a bit cocky."
"Well, all of my fusions can be a tad arrogant at times." Garnet blushed.

    The Crystal Gems spent the next few days repairing the damages caused by Emerald and Diamond. "Whew... This is hard work," Topaz said and wiped his forehead. "Yeah, but we've gotta finish this. We don't want Steven sleeping on the couch forever, do we?" Jade asked and raised an eyebrow. "No, we don't. I just wish this would be easier. Era 2 Peridots are lucky their limb enhancers have tractor beams. Stupid grappling hook..." Topaz flicked his arm, which made a metallic sound. "At least you still have limb enhancers! Amethyst threw mine into the sea by the Galaxy Warp!" Peridot replied. Topaz glared at Peridot, then rolled his eyes. "Can we please not fight? We need to finish before Steven gets home from Connie's house!" Coral told her teammates.

They all scrambled to finish, but Jade kept trying to get everything perfect. "Jade, it's fine. He's not gonna notice if the picture is crooked."
"But I will! It needs to be straight!"
"Please, I'm the only 'straight' thing in this house right now," Topaz replied jokingly. "Let's just finish up on the kitchen and we'll be done, okay?"
"Fine. But I'm fixing that later!" Coral began sweeping the kitchen floor, while Topaz and Peridot restocked the cabinets, and Jade and Lapis organized the refrigerator. "Alright! We're done!" Coral said and put away the broom. "Good, cause I was getting tired," Lapis replied.

Suddenly, the front door opened and Steven walked in. "Hey, guys! I'm-" He stopped. "You guys, finished repairing the house?" Steven asked. The other Gems nodded. "Surprise, Steven!" Coral said before hugging Steven tightly. "Thanks, guys! I was expecting to have to help finish it when I got back!"
"You're welcome! We just wanted to help you fix your house. It was a mess after Emerald and Diamond went through it," Peridot replied. "That's really nice of you guys! You do know you didn't have to do this, don't you?" Coral laughed. "Yes, we know we didn't have to, but we wanted to! That's what friends do, right?" Steven nodded. "Yes, it is what friends do. And I'm glad you guys are my friends." Lapis, Peridot, Jade, Coral, and Topaz all hugged Steven. "You guys are the best," Steven said.

They all suddenly heard the warp pad. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl had just come back from a mission, and Pearl was saying, "Amethyst, stop arguing. We need to-" She stopped and looked around. "Finish...? Y-you, finished fixing the house?" Jade smiled and nodded. "Yep. We wanted to surprise Steven, but I guess we surprised you too!"
"Yes you did, Jade. Great job, everybody. I'm sure Connie will be pleased to know that Steven's house is repaired," Garnet replied. "Oh! I'll call her now!" Steven pulled out his phone and called Connie to tell her that Jade, Lapis, Peridot, Topaz, and Coral repaired his house, so she could come over if she wanted to. Garnet bent down to give Jade a small kiss on the cheek. "Good job, Jade," she told her girlfriend. "Thanks, Garnet," Jade replied. "Hey, guys?" Topaz asked Garnet and Jade. "Could you come outside? Coral and I wanna show you guys something."
