A few months later, Jade was sitting on the porch, watching the waves crash on the beach in the cold night. I'm a Crystal Gem now... We're supposed to be brave, but I'm not, I'm too scared to tell Garnet how I feel... She thought. Jade was so lost in her thinking, she didn't hear the door open, or someone walking through it. "Jade," someone said. "Huh? Wh-what?!" Jade nearly flew, she jumped up so high. "G-Garnet? What are you doing out here...?" She asked nervously. "I want to talk to you." Then Garnet grabbed Jade's hand and lead her down to the shore. "I-is something wrong?" Jade asked with flushed cheeks. "No, nothing's wrong. We just need to talk to you."
"Wait, 'we'?"
"Y-yes. Ruby and Sapphire." Once they got to the shore, Garnet unfused, causing Jade's eyes to widen. "Jade, you've been a part of this team for a few months now," Sapphire said. "And over those months, we've gotten to know you better. Yes, we're in love, & Garnet is a relationship. But-"
"We think we're in love with you," Ruby said to finish for Sapphire. Jade blushed more.
"Wh-what?! You two are in love with me? B-but why?"
"Because you're so nice! And smart, and brave, and beautiful!" Ruby said. "It's true," Sapphire replied. Ruby and Sapphire then fused again. "Jade, what do you say? Will you be our-my girlfriend...?" Garnet asked after removing her shades. "Oh, my stars, Garnet... Yes! I've liked you since the day I joined! Of course I'll be your girlfriend!" Garnet sighed in relief. "I'm so glad you said yes. I was worried you wouldn't. Thank you so much, Jade," she said. Jade hugged Garnet happily. "Jade, will you dance with me?" Jade nodded quickly. "Good."

The two of them began dancing together, looking each other in the eyes. "How long have you liked me?" Jade asked. "About 3 months. I've seen you training with Pearl, & you're just so talented and brave." Jade's cheeks turned a darker shade of green as Garnet spoke. "And as Ruby said, you're absolutely beautiful." Jade's cheeks grew brighter as her gem glowed. "I see I'm making you blush," Garnet said with a chuckle. "Heh, so you are." Jade noticed that Garnet's gems were glowing. "A-are we gonna fuse...?"
"I'd like to, yes. I wanna see who we are together, if that's okay with you," Garnet said with a smile. "It's more than okay." Garnet put one hand around Jade's waist and pulled her closer.  Jade smiled as Garnet dipped her down. Their bodies glowed & melded together and a tall, green & purple Gem, named Iolite stood in their places. She opened all five of her eyes and looked at her gemstones on her palms. She smiled brightly and said, "We actually fused!" She hugged herself tightly and laughed. "I can't believe it! We really fused!! This is amazing!" Iolite stopped laughing and asked, "Ooh, what's my weapon?" She summoned Jade's baton and Garnet's gauntlets and watched them fuse into a giant baton with a fist on each end. "Woah! This is awesome!!" She caught herself. "Oh wait, I don't wanna wake anybody up!" Iolite quickly unfused. Jade and Garnet looked at each other and smiled. "So, we're Iolite when we fuse?" Jade asked. "Heh, I guess so," Garnet replied with a little laugh. They began walking back to the house. "Hey, Garnet? What if the other Gems don't like the idea of us, y'know..."
"Dating?"
"Yeah."
"Well, they'll just have to deal with it. I am the leader, aren't I?" Garnet smirked. "Yes, you are."
