The next few days were rather stressful for Fiona, she was fretting what might happen at the wedding. "Oh, I can't go through with this! What if I say the wrong thing!? What should I say?! What if he doesn't love me as much as I think he does!? Oh..oh.."
Fiona's mother sat on an arm chair across from her with amusement gleaming in her eyes. "Oh dear, don't worry so much." Lillian spoke softly getting up from the arm chair.
"How can I not? There's so much I need to do before this afternoon!" Fiona fretted as she though of all the tasks she still had left. Lillian put a hand on Fiona's shoulder.
"Don't forget I'm still here to help you," she said with a smile. Fiona relaxed a bit at her mother's reassuring words. "You'll never be alone, myself and your father will always be here to help you."
Fiona took a sharp breath out and looked to her mother, "thank you." Lillian smiled. "That's what parents are for, to make sure our children will also know that they are loved."
Fiona almost felt too overwhelmed at her mother reassuring her. After a while Fiona stood taller. "Now my dear, how about we have a look where they're setting up the wedding arch?"
Fiona nodded and followed her mother out of her room. As Fiona was following her mother, in the corner of her eye she saw a thing grey tail again.
Her mother walked down the stairs, Fiona looked to the stairs then to the tail. She slowly followed where the tail went, peaking around a wall she saw a scrawny grey body that looked like it came from hell and back.
Fiona's eyebrows shot up. "Donkey?" The donkey's ears pricked up and turned around. "Donkey? Where is he? Is he here?" The donkey asked looking around.
Fiona narrowed her eyes, this donkey had a long thick scratch along one side of its face, one of its ears had a bullet hole that had been taken out by a shot gun, it's muzzle was battle scared and was missing clumps of fur.
Fiona felt her shoulders sag. "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were my friend.." the donkey's head tilted slightly. "We are talking about a little Donkey? Aren't we?"
Fiona raised an eyebrow "little? No I..wait, who are you?" The donkey took a step forward. "My name is James." He said simply.
Fiona gasped. "James? Well that would mean you're-" James nodded. "Yes, I'm Donkey's father."
"So what are your plans for after you and Fiona marry, Charming?" The king asked as he watched Charming fix his tie in the mirror. "Well, we've chosen a cottage not too far from the castle. Just so we aren't too far away."
The king nodded "would be nice to see my daughter and son still close to us even after marriage." Charming nodded. "Fiona adores you, I'm not going to break that bond" he said smiling.
The king nodded and sighed. "I always hoped I would live long enough to see my little girl grow up and be happy.." Charming turned to the king and put a hand on his shoulder in comfort.
"I promise I'll always make her happy, I couldn't of asked for a better father in law" the king nodded. "Well, I best let you continue getting dressed while I check on Lillian."
Charming nodded and watched the king waddle out of the room. Charming thought of the matter of events that had happened, the king and queen really did seem like a family to him.
"Wait wait wait, hold up," Fiona stammered holding her hands up. "Donkey said you were dead?" James nodded. "I can understand why he would think that"
He gave a long sigh as his eyes twinkling "Alice was an amazing mother, she took great care of him." Fiona raised an eyebrow. "You were never with them?" She asked sitting on the floor beside him.
