Chapter Fourteen-
"Home At Last"
___
I didn't want to continue much more with this small talk. It was interrogating me. But with my last pities, I was able to set it off to a mediocre conversation. Don't get me wrong, he was pretty fun to talk to, but not for long as it was said. "Do you currently live here?" I burr out. " "Nah, I came here to stay here at my cousin's. I came down to toss my clothes in the laundry." I immediately felt at ease conversating with him. My intentions are not straight, but I'd like to continue. "So... How long are you staying for?" I speak boldly setting my back straight. "About a week or so... Just until December." He spills a laugh. "Hm...?" I utter raising an eyebrow. "Nothing, sorry- haha. You just remind me of someone." I again raise an eyebrow, changing to the other. "Me? And who's that?..." He rummages through his words. "Well someone from the past. Um." I quickly nudge. "Oh- I'm sorry... I shouldn't have-" "No it's fine. really." He allegedly looks down while I turn away. "You seem pretty cool, you go to school around here?" I blush for a second. Ah. I shouldn't flatter myself so quick. It's not common being given a compliment from a boy though... "Yeah actually, I'm a Senior at The Bay School of San Francisco." "Cool. There's a lot of Artsy people that go there. Are you one of them?" He says with interest. "I wish. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet, but I'm merely an ordinary that blends with the crowds." I look over to the selected floor on the wall. "Same floor, huh?" The elevator door opens in unexpected terms. He looks at me and grins. We both take our leave from the elevator and stop near it. I immediately know we have to depart opposite ways. "Well, see you around." I let out a deep breath." See you around, Freckles. I pause. Freckles? Almost being able to hear my grinding teeth, I turn the other direction. Woah, who does he think he is? And- Freckles? Seriously? I don't even have that many. (Yes, you do)
2036...2037...2038! I nudged my key into the small keyhole with all the strength left inside me... I just wanna hop onto my bed. Exactly what I did. I practically fell into my slumber when all of a sudden I heard a loud ring. A notification. Ugh. I forgot to put my phone on silent.
I reach my hand over to my bedside table hoping to find it scattered there somewhere. I pushed something. Thank god, I managed to catch in time before it fell to its doom. I press the "on" button on the rim of the phone to pull up the notification screen. 1 new notification. I click on it, hoping for the best. A text from Col, Hey, sorry it's late. I just wanted to make sure you got home safe. :) I creepily grin. He texts like a teacher. Thx, Col. Made it home, off 2 sleep [Sleeping Emoji] Night, Col.
I suddenly feel happy. I wish I could tell him that.
