Part two | Chapter Thirty-two-
"Inclined Verdict"
___
Around me, there was a diversity of dirt roads and dreary forests, rows of houses and fields.
Annoyance tickled every inch of me as I realized I could fall to my death seemingly any second. For the hundredth time at attempting over and over, I caught a nice grip farther towards the roof, enough to pull my other arm up.
I clasped onto a slab and quickly sprung up, desisting in a crouched position on the edge of a rooftop. Aware of my stability, I crawl up the narrow roof in terms of feeling safer once on the ledge. Not that I had planned to sit there, I wasn't entirely sure. I loathe feelings of drought, they make me feel empty inside, no more than I am already. This height- doesn't scare me. Neither does the dark,- nor spiders. I have no idea, guess I haven't encountered my fear yet.
"This sure was fun..." I oblige sarcastically.
My voice almost seemed cracked, like I hadn't spoken for days. In all truth, I wouldn't be surprised if I hadn't actually, I normally don't know what to say half the time. All the normality has been sucked straight out of me.
"What now, Alex?" I mutter sarcastically again.
"Jump."
"Jump?!" I halted, bringing myself at edge of my mind.
I frowned. That moment, I felt uncontrollable. Demanding of my own body, like being sucked into the void. I could hear my pulse at race with my mind, throbbing into a million feces. And right at that, I ran across the rooftop, leaving behind my soul and dignity, along with the drought in me. Still knowing the distant gap between the two buildings, I took my chances.
I plummed one foot forward, holding my breath, and jumped. The sun blazed through the silhouette of my vault. Blue, and red shone through me.
Settling time dead in its tracks and halting the distance of the next rooftop. I hauled my leg forward, barely making it through the jump. And there I stood, holding my stance on the outpost. Staring back at the rising sun with my strands hanging off of my neck. The nearly onyx shrouded clouds despised the sky of its colour.
Stifled under my own breath. I trailed my own words, coughing a ton load of spit. I glanced a look of horror once aware of the dabs of eye-hurling blood, further eyeing my palms.
"?!.."
Stunned, as to what kept me standing, left me hurling in more pain. Blood trickled from a stream like nothing I ever felt. I strained my hand to my face, shivering from the frost in my body. I felt a burning in my nose as it quenched in my mouth. Blood was gushing from both holes, sweeping the inside of my mouth and reaching up to my arms, ceased on the ground. I was in a crawling stance, my head leaping over my neck as I fought to gain back my poise of breathe.
I forced myself up with all that was left in me. Maybe this wasn't such a good choice. It's too late now, Alex.
But now, my body ached more than it ever had before. Every inch of my body was at stake, barely enough to move. "Ha, Stiff," her voice exclaims in the calmest one. I frowned most stupidly, reminding me of my real nature. Stood out from all normality, I raced my legs, bit by bit. All from that dumbstruck remark. I looked back once more, at the soundless building on the rim of daybreak.
"Maybe this future wasn't intended for me after all."
I turn my neck back into position, pushing by body forward. And with just that, I disappeared into the shadows, like the umbrae beneath the Moon.
