Bright florescent light burns Lilly's eyes as she slowly opens them. The smell of alcohol burns Lilly's nostrils along with other various smells. Her hands bury into the hard mattress, as her arms shake, pushing herself into a sitting position. Her eyes search the room, there's a small table by her bed with a bottle of water resting on top, on the other side of the room is a long window that peers into the hallway. Her mother stands in the hallway talking quietly to a doctor, his back is facing the window. Lilly turns her attention back to the water bottle, and slowly takes a sip, before putting it back on the table. When Lilly looks back at the window, her mom and the doctor are gone. Suddenly, the door swings open and Jasmine steps through followed by the doctor. Jasmine's face is filled with tears as she rushes towards her child.
"How are you feeling?" Asked Jasmine, placing her hands in Lilly's.
"I'm fine," Lilly lied, her entire body ached and an evil man resides inside her head.
"Are you sure you aren't feeling any pain, we can increase the pain medication," Said a familiar male voice.
Lilly looked up at the doctor, his face is really pale, which pairs well with his blue eyes, his hair is brown, and his shoulders are broad. The man that stood in front of Lilly was no doctor, but an evil familiar face. Lilly screamed in horror, and grabbed the water bottle next to her, before quickly chucking it at Ethan. The water bottle hit him square in his jaw, but he had no reaction, he just smiled.
"Lilly!' Jasmine screamed, "What are you doing?!"
Lilly looked at where her mother was sitting but her mother was no longer sitting there. Sitting in the seat was Ethan, he was wearing her mother's clothes. Lilly screamed again, before quickly throwing up her blankets and running for the door. Her hand gripped the door knob before a pair of arms wrapped around her stomach, yanking her back from the door. Lilly screamed again, while tearing at the hands that were holding her back. Tears rushed down Lilly's face like a waterfall as she struggled to get free, but it was no use. They forced Lilly back into the bed, and when she looked up at her captor, it was no longer Ethan. She quickly looked over to her mother's seat, and Ethan was no longer there, only her mother sat in the chair, her face filled with horror. She looked back at the doctor, it was a woman with black hair pulled into a bun. She looked just as horrified as Jasmine.
Lilly slowly grabbed the bed sheets off the floor, and slowly covered herself in the blanket from head to toe.
"I'm sorry," Lilly mumbled from under the sheets.
The room was quiet, both Jasmine and the doctor were speechless.
"Are you okay? Jasmine said, breaking the silence.
Lilly slowly peaked her head out of the covers. "I'm fine."
The doctor nodded to Lilly's response before quickly leaving the room.
"Maybe you just need some sleep," Jasmine said quietly.
"I'm fine, mom," Lilly said sternly
Jasmine's eyes brimmed with tears, "Alright. I'm gonna grab some coffee, I'll be back soon."
As soon as Jasmine leaves, Lilly falls back into her dream world, but this time it's nothing but darkness. Ethan is nowhere to be seen, but his voice whispers in her ear.
"See what you did? You scared your own mother," Ethan says
"No! That was you!" Lilly screams, while her head whips frantically around searching for Ethan.
"And how would I have done that? You were in the real world, do you really think I have that much power?" Ethan's voice replies
"I.. I don't know what you're capable of," Lilly whispered.
The sound of Ethan's laugh echos all around Lilly's head, growing louder and louder. The sound quickly rises to a scream, Lilly's eyes pop open but the screaming follows. It takes a couple seconds for Lilly to realize that the screams are her own.
Suddenly, the door swings open and Lilly's mom rushes in, her eyes are wide. "Are you okay? I heard you screaming from down the hall!" Jasmine exclaimed.
"It was just a bad dream," Lilly replied.
Jasmine swallowed hard, before moving a lock of hair out of her face to behind her ear.
"The doctors say we can leave as soon as they are done with the paper work," Jasmine said
"Good," Lilly replied softly.
A tear slowly caressed Lilly's cheek as she stared up at the white ceiling. She wished desperately that she could tell her mom what was going on, but she believed that Jasmine would never believe her, and if she did, then what? How would her mom help her get Ethan out of her head? Lilly knew in her heart that only she could get Ethan out of her head, but that was a question that she didn't have the answer to.
