Jasmine stood tall just outside of the pentagram, mumbling the words to the spell. Her head bent slightly down as she slightly stretched a piece of paper out close below her. Jasmine's eyes squinted as she struggled to read the spell's words aloud.
Lilly is sitting cross legged in the middle of the pentagram. Her head dripped down to her chest, her chin inches away from touching her chest. Her eyelids loosely hung over eyes, as if she could be awoken at any moment.
Suddenly, small cylindrical tubes of light, about the size of a quarter, shot up from the ground forming one large circle around Lilly in the center on the pentagram. The light grew to high for Jasmine to see the ends of the lights. The lights changes from a deep red to a light purple as Jasmine continues the spell.
As Jasmine reads the spell in Annabelle's handwriting, she misses a word. Her eyes widened as she continued on knowing she made a mistake. Her voice breaks in a few of the words as she finishes up the spell, but she keeps going until the words on the paper stop. The ground begins to slightly shake, as Jasmine reads but she doesn't feel it. The shaking is coming from a different part of the yard, but when Jasmine finishes the ground shakes harder as if it was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake, but the earthquake isn't centered where Jasmine and Lilly are.
As the final remnants of the house crumble down, the earth separates itself in a small corner of their backyard. A hand shoots up from the ground as the rip in the ground grows wider. The hand is half decayed and covered in maggots and the finger tips are all bone. The hand grips the edge of the hole, before another hand shoots up and clutches the edge. Soon, brown hair, that is covered in dirt and maggots peaks over the outside of the rumbling hole, before his face is fully visable. His right eye is missing, only a dark bug filled concave hole remains. Half his mouth was eaten away, revealing ugly yellow and brown- ish teeth. His dirty, decayed tongue slid across the sides of his teeth, cleaning away the surface dirt that stuck to his teeth. Just as he pulled himself out of his un- marked grave, Lilly's eyes popped open.
"Mom, what's going on?" Lilly asked in a high pitched voice, as she stared at the quaking ruble.
Jasmine couldn't answer, her eyes were fixed on the decaying body, standing at the top of Ethan's grave.
"Jasmine! My sweet devil cake," Ethan shouted calmly, like it was just another day.
Lilly's head jerked to her right to see Ethan stumbling closer.
Lilly screamed, before jumping up and running to her mother. She wrapped her arms around her mother's body, her chest pushed against Jasmine's side. Jasmine's focus snapped back to Lilly as she felt her daughter tremble against her side.
Jasmine pushed Lilly off of her before saying, "Run," to Lilly.
Lilly's eyes flooded with tears, as her head bobbed up and down in response. She took her mother's hand, before attempting to run away, but Jasmine held her position.
"What are you doing?" Lilly asked, as tears cascaded down her face.
Jasmine looked her daughter in her face, there were tears in Jasmine's eyes.
"This is my fault, let me take care of this," Jasmine said as she pushed away from Lilly, "now run!" Jasmine said with tears streaming down her face.
"But where?" Lilly asked.
Before Jasmine could respond, a cold, dirty hand gripped her arm. The arm forced her to face Ethan.
Lilly stumbled back before turing around and running away. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she couldn't stay there.
"You smell so bad!" Jasmine said, before throwing a punch into Ethan's decaying chin with her free arm.
Ethan lets go of Jasmine's left arm, and stumbles a foot back.
"Wow, I thought you should be happy to see me?" Ethan says.
"I am, but I don't like being grabbed, and you smell like hot garbage," Jasmine replied.
"Wait. I was just kidding, what do you mean 'I am'? You are the one who killed me!"
"You had to learn your lesson for killing my daughter," Jasmine replied.
Ethan bursts into laughter before saying, "That was good, I like your style!"
"And I let you rot in that grave for so long to teach you a lesson for mentally hurting my daughter, but that smell is hurting me more than you right now," Jasmine said, pinching her nose with her thin fingers.
Ethan laughed harder and as he did bugs flew out of his rotten mouth.
