The group stays together as we travel north slowly. Our new companions are interesting. Tara was an almost cop in Atlanta, Abraham was in the army and he thinks that his mission is to now protect Eugene with his life.
Rosita know absolutely everything to know about everything, including bombs; how to make and take them apart.
Rick decides that we're stopping in a small town on the edge of South Carolina. We find another house, we don't stay in one place for more than a week anymore.
Glenn and Bob go to check the perimeter of the house. Maggie and Sasha are the first to go into the house, they make sure it's clear.
"Rick we gotta talk to you about our mission," Abraham says gaining everyone's attention. I look to Abraham, "What mission?" I ask placing my bag on the couch.
"The fate of the whole damn world lies in our hands," he says stepping toward Rick. "Washington, Eugene's a scientist, he knows how to stop it. We just need a ride for all of us," Abraham says.
"A cure?" Rick asks Maggie steps in, "Eugene knows how to stop it and we should all go. If anyone deserves to go to Washington and find shelter, a life. It's us," the woman says staring up at Rick.
"We should get back on the road, I gotta think about it. About you, Judith, my people. I can't just send us off in a wild goose chase," he replies cradling Judith's head to his chest.
Michonne grabs his shoulder, "We need this, if we find someplace where we can live, where Judith, Elaine, and Mika, and Carl can live," she whispers facing her back toward Abraham and his people.
"Kids go upstairs we need to have a meeting," Rick says pointing to the stairs, "Dad we should get a say. Me and Elaine are both 16, I'm gonna be 17 we should get a vote," Carl argues.
"I think that they should have a say. They are our future," Michonne says. Mika takes my hand. "No. Go upstairs," Rick says pointing to the staircase.
I shake my head and move to take Judith from Rick's arms. I edge Mika up the stairs, Carl takes my hand stopping me. "What do you want?" he asks.
I frown and look to Carol and my father, Daryl raises his eyebrows. "I-I think that we should have a say and I think that we should try for Washington," I say.
"But we could lose people and that's something we can't risk, everyone we have is a resource," Rick says.
Michonne glares at him, "Either way is dangerous, whoever wants to go raise their hands," she says.
Every which way hands pop up out of the group, my hand pops up and so does Carl's.
"We need to get going soon," Abraham says, "I'll take my group and whoever volunteers to go after winter passes," Maggie's hand shoots up and so does Glenn's.
Tara glances at me and then Rosita, she raises her hand as well as she looks at the ground.
"Okay, I'll take my people and your three after winter passes unless we find a big enough vehicle for everyone," Abraham says holding out his hand.
Michonne stretches her's out to meet his, they shake. "Thank you for your hospitality," the tall man laughs.
"You're family now," Michonne says with a smile to everyone. Rosita hugs Maggie and Tara tightly. Carl kisses the baby in my arms and then his lips find mine.
"You, Judith, Maggie, and Michonne are gonna run our home someday," he whispers. "We'll go, we should head out in the next two days," Rick says throwing his arms around his son.
"We'll go and we'll survive," he says kissing his daughter. Carl nods, I walk over to Daryl. He ruffles my hair and picks up Mika. "I love you," he whispers pulling me into his side.
"I know, daddy," I whisper as Carol leans in and kisses my forehead then Daryl's lips. "I think she's asleep," Carol says rubbing Mika's back.
Daryl moves past us and up the stairs leaving me and Carol in the corner of the room. She turns to face me.
"I've seen you with Carl and I know you like him but you need to be safe," she says placing her hand on my shoulder.
I look up at her with furrowed eyebrows, "What do you mean?" I ask, she chuckles lightly.
"Your dad thinks you'll forever be to innocent for 'the talk,' but I think otherwise," she says looking toward Carl who is sitting on the floor beside his father.
"Rick asked me to talk to you about it," she says I shake my head. "Thanks Carol but I think I'll be okay," I mumble walking over away with a smile.
She nods as I walk away, I scurry over to Maggie who is leaning against the wall. "What were you two talking about?" she asks as I stand beside her.
I roll my eyes, "Carol was trying to give me the talk, but I've heard it before. I want the truth not just the same old, 'Use protection,' slogan," I mumble.
Maggie looks at me, "You wanna know?" she asks. I nod as she slides down the wall to sit, I do the same.
"It's not like in the movies, especially if the guy, which I assume is gonna be Carl, is a virgin too," she says.
"It is gonna hurt, but it'll be worse if he's bigger," she says holding out her hands as a reference.
"The sex isn't gonna be that good for your first time," Maggie continues. I frown and glance into the light glow of the lanterns in the living room.
"You're the one that wanted the truth," she smirks as she stands up. Carl quickly takes her spot beside me.
"Did Carol give you the talk too?" he asks I laugh and nod my head, he kisses my cheek.
"She tried Maggie did it instead," I mumble leaning my head against his shoulder.
"What'd she say?" he asks. I shrug, "She said that you probably won't be that good," I say keeping my eyes straight ahead.
