"We'll be back by noon," Michonne says. She slings an empty duffle bag onto her back. Carl does the same, "Be safe," I tell them. They nod before they leave, I lock the doors.
Rick is already limping up the stairs. I stand in the living room for a minute before heading up as well.
I grab a Steven King book off the shelf in the one bedroom. I grab a blanket before I open one of the windows. It only opens about 10 inches.
I crawl out the small gap because I can't get the window open any further. I sit in the sun as I read after about an hour I take a break but it isn't long because the book is amazing.
Footsteps thud up the path as I start chapter fifteen. I look over the edge of the porch roof and see a group of men heading our way.
My hands shake as I lay down on my stomach. I press myself tightly against the shingled surface.
They bust open the front door. I can hear them talking about the small amount of supplies we found.
"Rick," I mutter under my breath. I shove the blanket back into the partly open window.
I stand quietly and move to the corner of the house so the men can't see me through the windows.
I speak around the corner to look in the window. Rick is laying on the bed, I tap my nails one the glass. Rick jumps up and turns to look at me. I blow on the window to create a fog.
M. E. N.
I write backwards with my finger. He ducks and slides under the bed. I quickly move back to my spot when a shadow approaches the room.
I tiptoe across the roof and back to the partly open window. I slide back into the room without a word.
I grab my gun and slip it into my belt. Footsteps fall my way down the hall, I gasp and hide behind one on the shelves.
The man's boots thump my way, I close my eyes as I take a shaky breath. "Well, what do we have here?" he says grabbing my shoulder.
I shove my knife up and into the soft part of his jaw. He falls to the ground and I shove the metal into the bottom part of his skull.
"One down a ton to go," I say. I hear a bang from the next room. I frown and grab my bag and push it out onto the roof.
I crawl out after it and move over to the window of the room that the noise came from.
I see Rick standing in the middle of the bathroom with a man dead on the floor. I push open the window, "Come on," I whisper to the man there.
He turns to me and soon stands with me on the porch. He slides down the gutter. I stand at the edge of the porch roof.
I jump down after him. Rick holds me there for a second before we run to the porch so that we are hidden from sight.
A man is outside on the porch. Rick throws he arm across my body to keep me pressed tightly against the wall.
He peaks out around the corner. "Shit," he mutters as he turns back to me. "Chonne and Carl are coming," he says pulling out his gun. I grab his arm. "Wait," I whisper.
A scream sounds and scuffling inside the house.
The man on the porch runs inside. Rick grabs my arm and we run to Michonne and Carl. "We gotta go," Rick says.
He pushes them to turn around. He takes one of Michonne's full bags. I grab Carl's hand. We all start running down the street.
We don't stop until we hit train tracks. Michonne hands Carl a water bottle. Carl takes a few sips before handing it to me. I drink some down.
"What the hell happened?" Michonne asks as we continue walking down the tracks. "These men came to the house, one of them found me. I killed him." Rick tells her.
"We need to keep going. If they were a tight group they're gonna be looking for us," Michonne says. Her attention is drawn to something behind Rick.
She moves forward past him, we all follow her to a sign that reads: 'Sanctuary for all. Community for all. Those who arrive survive.'
Rick and her share a glance. "They would go," Michonne offers. "They would," I whisper to Rick, "Yeah they would," he says with a small smile.
