........Dark Scene Ahead.....
Four weeks later...
The funeral came and gone. It was an extremely sad event. Today was the last, little celebration my family plained before everyone went back to their jobs and life. Within the past four weeks, there have yet to be any updates regarding my father's murder. Ashton has been always mostly at night leaving me alone in a hotel. To clop with my loneliness, I made daily trips to the spa, retail shops, and restaurants all courtesy of Ashton credit card. At this point, I didn't care. He's never here. I would have been better off staying with my family. Then, you confront him on his whereabouts, and he can't tell you. Like, I said, two-steps-forward-five steps back with this guy. So to get back at him, I've been taken out my frustration on his black card.
To his promise, I have got any more messages from The Anonymous. But its bittersweet considering everything else. Tonight is my father's celebration and no one is allowed to wear black. It's going to be at my aunt Jennifer's house. It may seem like my family is dragging this out but, this is actually a customary West Indian thing. Even someone dies you have a party and since we did do awake or after gathering. Tashia and my aunts thought it would be nice to throw him a party to celebrate his life and relieve some of the sadness and pain. Moments later, Ashton walked throw the door. Looking like he just came from a work out session.
"Hi," I said in a flat tone.
"Hey!" he replied back.
"Are you coming to my father's life celebration party."
"A party?" he seemed confused
"Yeah, in Trinidad, when someone dies they throw them a party."
he walked towards the closet and pulled off his sweatshirt, "Alright."
"Great! a smile formed on my face. It starts at 8 pm"
Hours passed I though long dress in my leather jacket. A dressy casual kind of look. Ashton wore a button-up long-sleeved jacket with black ripped jeans and a leather jacket.
"Wow, you certainly love the edgy look."
"You too."
"I can see all of your cleavages in that dress, Aeon"
"So don't look," I grabbed my mini purse and walked out that apartment.
Ashton followed behind me. I was pretty annoyed with him. He opens the door for me and I got in. On the other side, Ashton turned on the car engines roared in my ears. "Oh, and I know you've been spending money like crazy."
"I'm lonely," I simply answered.
"I've been busy, I'm sorry."
"Busy with...?"
"You know, I can't tell you."
"Is it about my father, because I deserve to know." I voiced quickly.
"Aeon, I can't tell you." he firmly answered.
"How do you think it makes me feel when you keep secrets from me." "Then you leave me in a hotel all my myself."
"I do it for your protection," he warned.
"Protection," "my protection." "How are you protecting me if I'm constantly left in the dark. " raised my voice in frustration.
"Aeon, relax" he warned.
"You know what, it's alright." "I saw a nice Gucci bag at Neiman Marcus the other day. I'll go back and get it. I've never had Gucci before," I snarkily said looking out the window.
