The next day, I awoke warm in my bed. I felt extremely sore; my head was killing me. It was a bright sunny day, my window was open just a little, and the birds were singing----- wait..the events from, "wait, what day is it?" I looked for my phone only to realize I have no phone. It was probably lost at sea. I ran into the living room to look for my laptop. It's Saturday 11:00 am. How did I get here again? I looked around my apartment, confused, scratching my head. A wave of hunger came over me. I ran to my fridge and began snacking away at the first thing I saw, grapes. I saw the Japanese food from Thursday night that Jérôme brought over. If I get sick and die then, it's on me as I waited for the food to warm up. I went back into my room to search for sweatpants. How did I get back here? I was fully clothed wearing grey sweatpants and a sweatshirt with socks. I don't remember any of this. I remember jumping in the ocean. On my nightstand was a note with a flash drive placed on top.
Ms. Hall:
You're alive because of me; it would be in your best interest to never do this again. Pick up your car at Louie Towing in Brooklyn. I'll let you keep the flash drive because you almost died for it. Consider it a get well gift.
---Unknown.
Unknown saved me. The allusive Unknown? I've heard Ashton hint towards him so many times. I don't even think he ever met him. He took off all my clothes. I ran towards the bathroom to seem my clothes now dry, in the tub; even my underwear and bra, I felt slightly creeped out.
At the kitchen table, I sat eating my three-day-old Japenese food. Luckily for me, the flash drive had wasn't water damage; thank god for the zip lock bag—a little trick I picked up from Ashton. The file contained mostly transit routes to many different countries. I looked at the other data, just screenshots of purchasing information. Large sums of money wired from an account in Switzerland. The date of these transactions was recent almost three weeks ago. The was a codename attached to the file RXA1308. What does that mean? A Switzerland account? All these numbers it looks like my Dad's business is being funded by some overseas bank account. I took my head in frustration, screaming into my keyboards. "What does all this mean?" "If Unknown thought this information was important, why can't I decode it?" I decided to take a short break and focus on finishing my meal. I should try to replace my phone. Shit, Jérôme had just given me that phone after I lost my old one while moving out of the hotel. I'll just go out and buy one.
I found myself strolling down the sidewalk on a sunny spring afternoon. I hate spring; the weather never knows what it wants to be hot or cold, windy or rainy, sunny, or gloomy. Well, luckily for me, today was a sunny day, and I forgot my sunglasses. The warm sun rays made me regret wearing this outfit. There was a B-Moblie store not too far away within walking distance of my apartment. I entered the stores was greeted by a customer representative.
"Hi, welcome to B-Moblie."
"Hi," I greeted the woman back. I walked over and stared at the cell phone.
"Hi, Ms., do you need help?"
"Yes, I lost my cell phone. Last night. I would like to replace it."
"Ok, sure, my name is Karen," "I will be happy to assist you. What's your name and number?"
"Aeon Hall, my number is well.. you see, I don't know my number and I don't think I have an account with this company. I was just hoping to buy a phone and start a plan."
"Oh, sure, I see. Well, I'll look up your name just to make sure we don't have you in the system."
"Alright.'
I stood there, waiting for the woman to complete my background check. I had the feeling again. I haven't felt uneasy in a long time. The belief that someone was watching me. I looked outside the window of the store and saw a black SUV, but the model looked pretty new. I never really seen a van like that around here. The windows were tin so black; I couldn't see the person inside. Honestly, It didn't look like anyone was inside.
