***Kristen's POV***
"Are you sure you want it blond?" Siobhan asked as she read the box of hair dye. I nodded eagerly. "Ooooookay. If you're sure."
"What color are you doing?" I asked as I bounced in my seat.
"Just a tiny but lighter than I already have it."
"Boring."
Two boxes of bleach later, my long brown hair was covered and waiting for the time to rinse. I quickly did Siobhan's. While we were waiting I decided I was hungry.
"There's only like twenty more minutes we have to wait. You can't eat after we wash it out?" I shook my head and she rolled her eyes at me. "You're making whatever you want. I'm not doing it."
I narrowed my eyes at her, I couldn't cook to save my life and she knew it. But she wouldn't let up so I decided to cook myself a grilled cheese. Couldn't be that hard, right? Wrong.
"The stove top is kinda screwed up, you have to turn it on then light it with a lighter." Siobhan called from the living room.
I turned the burner on and it clicked, letting me know that the gas was on. I had always been pretty clumsy so I was trying my best not to burn down her house. Maybe I should have been more worried about the strand of bleach coated hair that fell out of my clip and how close my head was to the burner.
The next thing I know my hair had gone up in flames and I had dropped the lighter and started screaming. Siobhan ran into the kitchen, turned on the sink, and sprayed me.
The smell of burnt hair was choking us in the kitchen. After staring at each other in disbelief for a while, Siobhan started opening all the windows and I made my way to the bathroom.
I quickly rinsed my hair in the shower. My hair fell out in clumps. Some locks ended right above my ears, some at my shoulders, and some were nearly unaffected.
I pulled on my clothes then made my way out to the living room and Siobhan gave me a sad smile. "It looks good blond." she tried.
I fell into her arms and began sobbing. After fifteen minutes of letting me cry, she finally spoke up. "We should go have someone cut it. There's a nice place up the street, at least they can even it out.."
I nodded and went to her car. On the drive over I noticed how her hair turned out, it was cute. Especially since she hadn't lit it on fire.
"Hello," the girl at the counter greeted, "how may I- oh. What happened?" She looked at me with fear in her eyes when she saw my hair.
"I tried to bleach it, " I sniffled. "And lit it on fire. Accidentally."
"I can take you right now." she told me and led me to a chair.
After an hour of washing and cutting my hair she finally told me she was done. She spun me around and I started crying when I saw my hair. It was so short.
Siobhan came and wrapped her arms around me. "I think it's cute, it suits you."
"I have no hair!"
"I did the best I could." The girl said. "I couldn't salvage much. It's was really burnt."
I sniffled and got up. I tried to hand her money but she wouldn't take it. "It's fine, it's not like you wanted the hair cut." I thanked her and then Siobhan and I left.
"Hair grows back, love."
"I know. Still upsetting. Who in the hell lights their hair on fire when trying to bleach it." I tried to pout but we both ended up laughing. "I guess it's not that bad," I said looking in the mirror. "Maybe I'll keep it like this."
