A little Destiel AU shamelessly based off Taylor Swift's song Wildest Dreams

***Third person***

The diner was dusty and empty of all people except for Castiel and the two people that formed the staff. Not at all what people would think of as a place to find people to hook up. But that's exactly what Castiel found.

He was tall, and handsome as hell. He came in shivering, obviously not used to the cruel New York winter. He was wearing an ACDC t-shirt, a red flannel, and a leather jacket. Cas never thought he would find someone so hot wearing so many layers of clothes. But there he was with his sandy blond hair and piercing green eyes. Fanfiction green, Cas thought to himself and then mentally slapping himself for the thought.

The stranger noticed Castiel's staring and made his way over to the table where Cas was sitting. "May I?" He asked and Cas nodded, putting down the book he had been reading. "My name's Dean. I'm visiting here.. came to see my best friend's play and afterwords I was walking and got lost."

Cas laughed. "It's easy to get lost around here... I've lived here for four years and I still get lost. I'm Castiel."

"Let's get out of this town." Dean said out of no where. "Drive out of the city." he shrugged.

Cas grabbed his book. He wasn't one who usually went home with random men but something struck him about this tall man in the leather jacket. He knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that he couldn't just shake. Heaven can't help me now... He thought as he led Dean out to his car.

Cas drove for a while until he hit the spot he was looking for. "What is this?" Dean asked, confused.

"Just follow me.." Castiel grabbed Dean's hand and led him into the forest, Dean shivering and glaring at the snow on the ground and Cas laughing at him.

They finally reached a tiny cabin and Cas turned to Dean. "Before we go inside and do whatever comes of this... I have one request." Dean nodded for him to continue. "Say you'll remember me."

"What do you mean, Cas?" Dean was shivering even more now and just wanted to get out of the snow.

"When you leave New York an we never see each other, just tell me that you'll remember me. Say that you'll see me again, even if it's just pretend."

Dean leaned down and lightly pressed his lips against the smaller man's. "I'll remember you."

Then they went inside. Dean wrapped himself in a down comforter that was a weird purplish color due to Castiel bleaching it once and it was no longer blue like it had been originally. Cas started a fire and sat right in front of it, Dean sitting beside him, wrapping the blanket around the two of them and one arm around Cas' shoulders.

"How do you live in New York?" Dean said when his teeth finally stopped chattering. "It's so cold."

Cas shrugged, leaning closer into Dean's chest. "I came here to be a writer. I got a nice job, too, at a publishing company. I had a great book idea and I think it was my best work ever. But they gave the publishing spot to Chuck Shurley.."

"The Supernatural author?" Dean questioned.

Castiel nodded and looked down at his hands. "I guess I can't compete with monsters and hot brothers." he laughed.

"But you stayed?" Dean began tracing the lines on Castiel's palm with his pinky. "Even after you were turned down you stayed in New York."

"Yup. I guess I fell in love with it.." Cas looked up to find Dean's green eyes staring into his own blue ones.

Dean leaned down and lightly pressed his lips against Castiel's. Cas opened his mouth slightly to grant Dean more access and the kiss quickly became heated. Cas pulled away just enough to talk, "no one has to know what we do..." he assured Dean. Dean raked his hands through Castiel's hair and pushed him back against the floor.

The next morning Cas woke up first and found himself wrapped tightly in the tall man's arms. He began to count the freckles that were splattered across his nose and cheeks. Castiel had lost count and started over three times by the time Dean woke up.

"Good morning, angel." Dean smiled and stretched. Castiel giggled. Dean began tracing the features of Castiel's face as he talked. "I'm glad I met you... it's weird, I don't usually do this kind of thing."

"Me either." Cas muttered.

"I'm going home today."

"And we'll never see each other again." Castiel looked at his hands. "I think that's how it should be, though."

"I can tell you're a writer," Dean laughed. "But I understand what you mean."

They got up and got dressed in silence and Castiel agreed to drive Dean to the bus station. When they pulled up, they turned to each other with sad eyes.

"This is our last kiss?" Dean asked.

"Promise you'll remember me." Cas said again.

"Of course," Dean whispered and pressed his lips against his one-night lover's. And then left the car and made his way to the bus.

Dean reached in his pocket and pulled out the necklace he had grabbed at Castiel's little cabin. It was a charm of black angel wings on a thin silver chain.

When he reached home, his brother greeted him with a big hug. "How was the trip? How's Jo?"

Dean answered all of Sam's question with his mind drifting towards Castiel. He wondered if he would ever see him again an about what Cas saying about it being for the better.

But at least he knew he would always remember his one-night lover.
