Third grade teacher Cas and single parent Dean !

***third person POV***

Presentation day, yippee. Castiel thought sarcastically to himself. His third grade class had been working on projects on an ecosystem of their choice for the past week and now he had to sit through thirty students rambling on about animals. Why had he chosen to be a teacher?

"Sorry we're late!" He heard a voice call over right as he was going to take roll. "My alarm clock didn't go off this morning." a tall man wearing a red flannel over an ACDC shirt and had a weird amulet hanging from his neck.

"You unplugged it from the wall!" Cas looked down to see one of his most rowdy students, Ben, holding a large model of a forest. Castiel looked closely to see a weird figure standing in the middle and it appeared to be eating a man.

"What's this animal, Ben?" Castiel asked, worriedly.

"That's a wendigo!" Ben said excitedly. "I've never seen one but-"

The parent reached over quickly and grabbed the small figurine and the human it was eating. "Woah there, Ben." He gave Cas a nervous smile. "Kids these days with all those horror movies."

Ben pursed his lips and looked down at his shoes as if he had done something wrong. Cas motioned for him to place his project with the rest of them and the parent left.

Cas hurried out to catch the man before he left. "I, umm, thanks for bringing Ben and his project in. You must be a great dad.."

"Name's Dean," Dean held his hand out to shake the smaller man's hand. The man was very attractive and Dean couldn't help but notice the way his white button up outlined his muscular body very faintly but just enough to drive Dean crazy.

Dean thought back to all the other dates he had been on: gay men tended to run away as soon as they heard he had a son with a woman. Even Benny, who Dean had been with for nearly six months, had called it quits when he heard about Dean's son.

"Actually, I'm his uncle. Well, kind of. His mom, Lisa, is a close family friend so he's always referred to me as his uncle." Dean lied quickly.

"Oh, still very sweet of you.." Cas looked down at his feet. The hardest part about dating gay men is figuring out if men are gay or not. "You would make a good father. Do you plan on having kids anytime soon?"

Dean recognized this as a poor attempt to avoid the "so are you gay?" question. He smiled, "maybe. I'd have to find a good man to settle down with first. You?"

Castiel smiled back, "same, same."

Dean nodded. He was panicking on the inside. He hadn't been on a date in a while and couldn't figure out how to ask this man out. He decided to do it the only way he knew how: "Are you doing anything tonight?" Cas shook his head. "We should go to dinner."

Castiel laughed. "Sounds good. I'll have some grading to do so if you could pick me up from here at around seven?"

"Picking my date up from elementary school.. I guess there is a first time for everything."

Cas scribbled his name and number onto a post-it and handed it to Dean before hurrying back into the classroom.

After school, Ben's mom came in the classroom to pick him up. "Ms. Braden?" Castiel called to her. "Could we speak for a minute?"

She nodded and told Ben to clean up his stuff before walking over to Castiel's desk. "Yes, Mr. Novak?"

"Castiel, please, it's weird enough having a bunch of kids call me Mr. Novak." he laughed. "I just wanted to share my concern for some of the things Ben puts into his work. Earlier he had an odd creature eating a man in his forest project. A wen-something he said it was.."

"Wendigo?" Lisa asked as she clenched her jaw.

Castiel nodded, "That's it. This isn't the first time either. Last week a kid talked about a vampire movie and Ben scoffed at him an told him that staking a vampire would kill it and then went into detail on how to decapitate it. His uncle today explained that he likes horror movies but I think it would be best for him and other students if you could clear up what's real and what's not."

"Uncle?" Lisa asked. Cas found it weird that that had been the only thing that caught her attention from what he said.

"Yeah, the man who dropped him off today."

Lisa scoffed. "That is not Ben's uncle. Dean Winchester is his father. But I'll definitely talk to Ben about the movies and I'll also talk to Dean for showing him the movies because that's all on him." then she thanked Cas and left with Ben.

Cas found himself going over the projects two or three times because he was too deep in thought to focus on grading. Finally seven came around and he got a text from some number: I'm outside when you're ready. -Dean.

Castiel grabbed his trench coat from the closet, locked up, then made his way outside. "Hello, Dean." he smiled as he climbed into the black impala.

"Hiya, Cas." Dean smiled back. "There's this little diner that's run by a friend of mine. Do you mind going there?" Cas shook his head and they were on there way.

After they had received their burgers, Cas spoke up. "So, I talked to Ben's mom today."

Dean's eyes widened in what looked like fear but he his it by focusing a little too hard on his fries. "What about?"

"His horror movie thing.. and his dad." Cas raised his eyebrows at Dean.

"Look, Cas, I'm sorry. Being a single dad is tough when trying to date. So, I thought I would be his uncle until I saw how this date would go. Which, now that I think about it, was really stupid on my part."

Castiel laughed. "It's okay, Dean. But... could you explain his whole thing with supernatural creatures? How does he know decapitation will kill a vampire? I dot think I've seen a movie that included that.."

Dean laughed. "That's a story for another time."
