"Dead Perusal"
INSENTIENT SERIES 1
Gayle Palaca
I could still remember how I loved to read stories before
How I would stay up all night reading as many chapters
How I could finish a book in less than a week
And how I would sneak my phone up during class just so I could read the latest update on my current reads
But then, as time goes by, I've noticed that something has changed in me
I don't know what happened but I developed a reading slump
I can't seem to get to the end of every story that I try to read
Finishing a single chapter started to bore me
Going to the bookstore and seeing books in bookshelves doesn't ignite me anymore
And what was once a very difficult thing to do---uninstalling my online book apps---doesn't bother me anymore
At first, I thought it was just because of the book that I was reading because it was not interesting enough
So I tried reading other books based on my preference and I even tried exploring other genres in the hope that I could find that connection with stories again
But then I realized that it was me that has something wrong all along
I've finally lost my interest in reading
I've also stopped collecting books
The desire to read again is still here though
But what could my desire do when I am incapable of doing it?
