Calvin and I make eye contact and I wave at him with a smile before going over and taking a seat at the table.
"Thanks for coming," he smiles, "At least you didn't stand me up."
"You know I'd never stand you up." I smile and a waitress comes by with two menus and then leaves again.
"I just want to say that I'm sorry for being like that at the club. I know I already said sorry over the phone but it's better to say it in person."
"It's okay," I reassure him, "It didn't make me too uncomfortable or anything."
"No, seriously. It wasn't okay to start that up without knowing where you were at first." He takes a look through the menu as I do, too.
"I said it's okay," I reassure, "can we put it behind us now?"
"Yea, you're right. Sorry," he laughs cutely.
A waitress comes up, pausing our conversation for a moment. "Would you like to order now?" She asks politely.
"Yes, I'd like the..." We both order and she leaves again with a smile.
"Anyway, are you and that dude dating?" He questions and I give him a look from over the top of the desert menu.
"No," I say shortly, "And that dude's name is Jungkook."
"Alright, well I don't know how much I trust this Jungkook guy."
"That's not really a choice for you to make," I snap with a smile and place my menu down on the table, "we're only friends."
"I'm not saying you can't be friends with him," he raises his hands in surrender, "I just mean you should be weary. Look out for yourself because I couldn't stand to see you hurt."
"I think I'll be fine," I chuckle, keeping the mood light, "besides, I have Jess and Oliver to back me up if he does something."
"Ellie," he looks at me with pleading eyes, "you know what I mean, okay? Just keep your eyes open when he's around. I'm not saying he's a monster, I'm saying I've heard and seen plenty about him to know that he's not all good news."
"Okay, then I won't let him make any moves on me." I sip my water casually.
"Good. Anyway, how was your break?"
"Pretty decent." I wrap it all into two words.
"Anything fun happen?"
"Yeah," I grin, thinking back at the memories from a few days ago. "My family, Jungkook and I had an amazing dinner, we saw the Christmas lights and stuff from a sight-seeing tower..." my grin fades as Jungkook's words spill back into the forefront of my mind; that kiss meant more to you than to me.
"Was that it?" He asks.
"Uh," I come back to the present. "Yeah, yeah. All except those last couple days when we got to hang out. That was the cherry on top."
"Was it really?" He smiles down at the table, "well I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish we could've spent more time together. And again, I'm so sorry for what I did. I just got out of hand and that was completely uncalled-for on my part."
"Drop it," I giggle and rest my hand over his arm on the table, "I said it's okay."
"Thanks," his eyes meet mine and for a moment I feel myself resort to years ago when we became friends. That day was perfect. No, seriously, the sunlight shone down on us, its golden rays heating our skin outside while we were at freshman orientation. The grass was so unbelievably green, the campus looked stunning, and Calvin... Well, Calvin also looked stunning.
