A/N: Jungkook's smile will forever give me a reason to wake up in the morning😊
I come into class and set my things down on my desk. Looking around, I notice Jessie isn't here yet and I cock my brow as I scan the room for her. This is strange because Jess is here before me most of the time.
I let a few minutes pass and then decide to text her.
After sending her the question asking why she isn't here today, I fiddle mindlessly with my thumbs as I wait patiently for her response.
I look around and see Seokjin at his desk writing something. I can't help but to stare at the perfection that is his face, I hope we can work together someday. I realize that we've only done group work a few times, though, so I probably won't be with him any time soon.
My phone vibrates and I look down at it.
Jess: I had to take the day off, I'm so sorry I didn't text you last night but my grandma is in the hospital
I immediately text back to tell her it's okay and to call me after my classes are over to talk about it. With a quick response, she agrees and I turn my phone off before our professor walks in.
"Hello," he greets unenthusiastically and goes to his desk. "I need your attention for a moment."
Everyone looks at him and becomes quiet. "For our next project, we'll be working in groups."
My face lights up and the students become a cocktail of irritated groans and cheerful 'yes's. I can work with Seokjin.
"You can pick your own partner, but I'm advising you to not pick someone you know you won't be able to work with, for obvious reasons." He continues. "It will be your exam grade for this semester."
"The project will be over Greek mythology, as we've been going over it for the past week." He explains. "Pick a greek god or goddess and create a presentation about them. Minimum of 20 slides. Be sure to give credit to the websites you use and don't plagiarize someone else's presentation, I will know."
"How big can our groups be?" Someone near the front asks.
"You may have up to 4 people in your group. Any more questions?" He asks and looks around the room. "No? Okay, get started."
The students shuffle around and I realize I can't pick Jessie to be my partner as well since she isn't here. Damn, I have to ask him by myself.
My eyes are locked on Seokjin. I stand to my feet but as soon as I start to walk towards him I feel an arm being slung loosely over my shoulders. "Hey, buttercup." Jungkook's voice rings next to me.
"Buttercup? Last time I checked, that wasn't my name." I remove his arm from me. His nickname doesn't flatter me in the slightest.
"Be my partner." His lips curve upward slightly.
"No thanks, I'd rather stick my hand into an incinerator." I reply and notice a girl alone at another desk. "Go bother that chick, I'm sure she would be dying to have you as her partner."
"I don't want her, though." He speaks confidently, "Be my partner."
"No."
He looks around for a moment before smiling and I notice his bunny teeth. "Too bad, everyone else already has a group."
I glance around the room, even Seokjin. My heart sinks slightly in my chest. I missed my only chance to work with him. I let my shoulders slump and I sit back down in my seat with a sigh.
