Chapt 16 - Waiting

Wei Ying stood at the entrance of burial mounds. He could already feel the resentment energy radiating from it. Wei Ying took a deep breath and closed his eyes as he remembered all the important people in his life.

He replayed all the moments he had with Lan Zhan in the cave and smiled. Then, gathering his courage, he headed into burial mounds.

Wei Ying managed to keep the resentment energy swirling around him, not attacking him. As he went further in, the resentment energy became thicker and heavier.

Wei Ying held the Yin Metal Sword he found in the turtle tightly and could feel the sword absorbing resentment energy.

All of a sudden, the sword flew forward and rotated around, within a glowing light. The resentment energy started attacking him.

Wei Ying used his talismans to hold off the energy as laughters sounded around him. Among all the loud noises, one was especially loud and spoke "Wei WuXian, do you want revenge?"

Wei Ying tried to keep calm and shouted "Yes". Wei Ying lunged forward and grabbed the sword. He screamed as the resentment energy laughed and seeped into him.

Wei Ying could feel the resentment energy going into his body, coursing through his veins, but not attacking his golden core.

However, the resentment energy was clouding his mind and starting to take over him. Wei Ying thought of his motivations.

To save and protect his loved ones. To save and protect the innocent ones. To be able to spend the rest of his life with Lan Zhan. Wei Ying let out a creepy smirk as he screamed again and fought with the resentment energy in his mind.

'Lan Zhan Lan Zhan Lan Zhan. Need to build a house with Lan Zhan. Need to eat Lan Zhan's food. Need to do our everyday is everyday activity with Lan Zhan. Need Lan Zhan. Want Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan.' Wei Ying thought in his mind repeatedly as he tried not to go crazy or lose control.

Wei Ying groggily staggered to the Demon Slaughtering Cave with the sword in his hand. Wei Ying stepped into the entrance and passed out after vaguely hearing someone say "Boy, I've been waiting for you"

Meanwhile, Lan Zhan and Lan XiChen gathered at Koi Tower (Jin Lin Tai/ Carp Tower), with Jiang Cheng, Nie Ming Jue, Meng Yao and Jin ZiXuan. They are the main forces.

The elders of their sect is taking care of their respective sects, and Nie HuaiSang is placed in charge of Nie Clan temporarily.

Lan XiChen and Jiang Cheng missed each other very much. The moment Lan XiChen saw Jiang Cheng, his face lit up and he immediately ran to Jiang Cheng for a hug. Jiang Cheng blushed and smacked XiChen, trying to push him away since they were in public though he enjoyed the hug.

Everyone was surprised that Meng Yao and Nie MingJue are together, though it is good for Meng Yao to be on their side. (I have posted their story in a one shot story.)

After a short update from each sects, they decided to hold the sunshot campaign in two months. They would first help out other areas which have been taken over by Wen Sect.

After the meeting, XiChen pulled Jiang Cheng aside. They talked about how they were doing and what happened during each other's absence.

Jiang Cheng hugged XiChen, which actually surprised XiChen, who hugged back afterwards. "Huan, I think Wei WuXian is really too reckless!"

"Don't worry, Wei Gong Zi will be fine." XiChen comforted Jiang Cheng as he knew that Jiang Cheng was worried. He then continued "Besides, WanYin, didn't you miss me?"

Jiang Cheng blushed as he hugged XiChen tighter. He whispered "Of course I did"

XiChen smiled "Hmmm? What did you say?" Jiang Cheng huffed and shot him a glare but blushed and relaxed as XiChen kissed him.

Half a month passed and Wen Qing appeared with Ah Yuan in her arms and Wen Ning beside her, carrying Wen Chao.

They were surprised to see her and she was in a panicked state. Wen Qing recounted what happened just a few days ago.

Wen RuoHan had a family heirloom. He brought it to the Yin Metal in hopes to strengthen its power but instead, it showed the future too (up till the time he died).

Wen RuoHan ordered Wen Qing and Wen Chao to bring Wei Ying back to redeem herself. Her family is kept captive and she only managed to ask Wen Ning to bring Ah Yuan along and secretly follow them.

Lan Zhan clenched his fist at the idea of Wen RuoHan setting his sights on Wei Ying.

On the way here, Wen Qing used moth needles to knock out Wen Chao and when they were discovered by Wen Sect disciples, Wen Ning used his bow and arrow to finish them off.

Xiao XingChen immediately reacted. "Xue Yang! If Wen RuoHan already knows, then he wouldn't need the last line of the poem which tells him about the 5th metal!"

Xiao XingChen panicked. He needed to call Xue Yang back but Xue Yang had already left a few days ago. Song Lan told Xiao XingChen that Xue Yang will be fine.

They decided to imprison Wen Chao, leave Ah Yuan in the hands of Lan QiRen and wait for one week for Xue Yang to return.

Meanwhile, at Nightless City, Wen RuoHan was holding Xue Yang by the throat. "Xue Yang, I'm sad to tell you, you have no bargaining power over me. I know the 5th piece exists and where it is."

Xue Yang eyes widened but kept calm. "So? Are you going to kill me?"

Wen RuoHan laughed loudly and let Xue Yang down as Xue Yang gasped for air. "Hmm, you indeed did not betray me" Wen RuoHan said as he thought back to what he saw.

Then, he continued "Go do what you want with YueYang Chang Sect"

Xue Yang smirked "That means I can kill of the whole sect right?" Wen RuoHan smiled "Yes, do what you want. Then I have a task for you"

"Go ahead, Immortal Cultivator" Xue Yang said, trying to be polite yet act normal.

Wen RuoHan tapped his finger "Go find Wen Chao and Wen Qing and help them bring Wei WuXian back."

"Wei WuXian?" Xue Yang asked "Who is he?" Wen RuoHan squinted his eyes as he wondered if Xue Yang really didn't know.

"The eldest disciple of Yunmeng Jiang Sect. He is the one who found the 5th piece." Wen RuoHan replied. Seeing Xue Yang who didn't look very interested, Wen RuoHan smiled "Just follow Wen Chao and Wen Qing"

"Understood, Immortal Cultivator" Xue Yang replied. "Mn" Wen RuoHan nodded in approval and waved him away.

Xue Yang immediately returned to Lanling Jin sect. When he reached, Xiao XingChen immediately ran and hugged him. He had been on the edge ever since he heard what Wen Qing said.

Xue Yang told them what happened and they decided to ask Yueyang Chang Sect for cooperation, spreading the rumour that Yueyang Chang Sect was cruelly annihilated.

When Wen RuoHan heard the news, he was pleased as he smiled and laughed to himself. Things were going his way.
