35. The Death Trap

"Where are you going Bucky?", Sam asked shifting his attention to him.

"Nowhere."

"Oh really? Then why are you wearing a tactical suit?  Seriously dude, where are you going?"

Bucky kept looking at him. Should I tell him? But what if he-? But he said that he would help me...."Can I trust you Sam?", he asked him.

"Bucky..."

A heavy silence lingered in the air as both Sam and Bucky kept looking at each other.

"Sam I found Jen. I know where she is", Bucky said but regretted immediately. Shit! Shouldn't have said that.

"What?" Sam shook his head in disapproval.  "Bucky, why are you doing this? I swear dude it's not worth it."

"Why not?"

"What do you mean by why not? What do you want from her anyway?"

"I need answers, Sam. I need all my questions to be answered. If she is-", he breathed in sharply. "If she is an infiltrator as you all are claiming her to be, I want to know why the hell she did what she did!"

"She was an undercover agent, Bucky and she infiltrated shield. What else do you expect from her?"

"Yes, but why get involved with me? Why play with my feelings?"

"Well to be fair, Jen, or whatever her name is,  always kinda ran away from you. I don't think she played with your emotions. To be honest, she always tried to avoid her emotions as far as I know.

"But-"

Sam could see Bucky getting upset. He knew that he is deeply in love with Jen. "Anyways, where did you get the tip from?", he asked changing the subject. Her feeling for him, true or fake, can be dealt with later.

Bucky looked down and avoided Sam's gaze.

"Bucky? Where did you get the tip from?", Sam asked him again.

"I got this message", Bucky said handing him his phone. Sam read it and said, "So they asked you to come alone and they are claiming that they have kidnapped her?"

Bucky nodded sighing heavily. "I don't know Sam, I get what you guys are saying. I understand that all the evidence points against her but I don't know why I have this gut feeling. This weird feeling which is screaming at me to get to Jen. I hope she is OK, Sam because I feel like she is trapped somewhere."

Sam knew there is no way he should go against Bucky. Let's agree with what he is saying. "Fine, I am coming with you", Sam announced handing back Bucky his phone

"No, Sam. They have called me alone. I can't take any risks."

"Either I am coming with you or you don't go at all", Sam stated crossing his hands across his chest.

Bucky contemplated for a second before finally agreeing to him. "Let's get going", he said walking towards the lift.  Sam nodded following him. "But we can't just walk in their territory"

"You think I haven't thought this through? Just because I am in love, doesn't mean I am stupid. "

"True, you were stupid way before that."

Bucky rolled his eyes and gestured Sam to enter the lift. Sam still chuckling felt a slight pinch on this neck. "What the hell?", he asked turning to face Bucky.

"Sorry Sam", Bucky said as he caught him before he would hit the ground. He gently lowered his body to the floor and dragged it to his room. "Like I said, can't risk it, buddy."
