Audrey's POV
"I forgot how small this place is." I say as we walk into WakeMed Soccer Park. "It's smaller than the place I played in High School."
"Really?" Toni asks then I nod as we walk to the locker room.
When I get to the locker room I head to my locker then take off my necklaces, earrings, and nose ring before I start to change I then change into my warm up shirt, game shorts, my socks and my rainbow and white boots.
After I'm dressed I head out to the pitch with the rest of the team. When I get on the pitch I run through my warm ups with the starters for a while then head back to the locker room. Once in the locker room I change out of the training top and change into our White jersey. After I'm dressed I wait around in my locker as the coaching staff do their last minute talks then the starters and I head to the tunnel and I line up behind Ash. A minute later we walk out onto the pitch, stand for a bit, shake hands with the Courage, then I head to the center circle to do the kick off.
A moment later the ref blows her whistle so I kickoff the game.
In the fifth minute Marta tries to find me with a pass, but it get's cut out by Cari Roccaro. Roccaro then plays a ball up field to Debinha who then starts running up field so I chase after the Brazilian. When I catch the Brazilian I get in front of her to block her path, but she takes a shot which hits my leg and ricochets away from Ash and into the back of the net putting the Courage up 1-0.
"Fuck." I mumble as I watch walk back to the center circle.
As I'm walking the smoke from the smoke thing the courage fans set off invades my lungs which causes me to fall to the ground and gasp for Air.
"Audrey what's wrong?" Crystal asks as I lay on the ground.
"Smoke...in my...lungs." I say as I gasp for air.
"HEY REF." Crystal yells then a second later I hear a whistle.
Moments later Abby, Sam, Lynn, Jessica, Ash, Ali, and Alex join Crystal in hovering over me then I hear shouting.
"MOVE." Jamie, one of our AT's, shouts and the 8 ladies do as told and move.
When Jamie gets to me she puts an oxygen mask over my face.
"Breathe slowly." Jamie says so I do just that.
I take in the oxygen for a minute until the oxygen alleviates my lungs so I sit up.
"What happened?" Alex asks so I point to the smoke thingy then everyone looks at it.
"Fuck." Sam says. "I forgot you have Asthma."
"Are you ready to come off and get some water?" Jamie asks and I nod then Ash helps me up.
The moment I stand up I get really nauseous so I take the oxygen mask off, sprint to the nearest trash can, then empty the contents of my stomach into it.
"Fuck's sake." I mumble then I slump down into a seat on our bench.
"Audrey do you need to come out?" Jamie asks as I rinse my mouth out with water.
"She's good." HAO says. "There's no way in hell Audrey's gonna want to pull herself out of the game."
"She's right." I say as I stand up.
"Alright." Jamie says so I head to the fourth official and wait for the ball to go out.
Eventually the ball goes out of play behind the Courage goal which means we have a corner. Once the ball goes out the fourth official tells me to go on so I head onto the pitch and get ready for the corner.
"Oh look it's the abomination." Someone says.
"Who are you?" I question as I wait for the corner.
"You really don't know what my name?" The girl asks so I look at the back of her jersey and see it says Hinkle.
"Well, whatever your name is, I've heard every name in the book." I say. "So if you don't have a different insult beside abomination, lesbo, dyke, cunt, weirdo, gimp, whore, slut, hoe, dickhead, asshole, bitch, or failure then don't bother talking to me. You're not worth my time."
Finally the whistle blows so Marta starts her run up.
"Watch this bitch." I say then I run, jump, and head the ball into the back of the net making the score 1-1.
When I land back on the ground I look at the girl who tried to insult me then wink as I kiss the tattoo of my Mom's name on my wrist.
I then celebrate with the girls before we head back upfield to restart the game which happens once we get into our half.
The rest of the first half is boring as shit so once the halftime whistle blows I jog into the locker room. When I get in the locker room I head to my locker, grab my mouth wash, then I go to the bathroom and wash the bad taste out of my mouth. Once my mouth is minty fresh I head to my locker and sit down as HAO does her halftime speech then we rest for the rest of halftime.
Once halftime ends we head back out to the pitch, head to our positions, then the Courage restart the game.
In the 50th minute Abby Erceg runs at me after intercepting Ash's goal kick so I shuffle backwards while waiting for her to make a mistake and lucky for me she does.
Erceg takes a heavy touch that gets away from her and we both sprint to the ball. I get there first so I meg the Kiwi then head up field. Dahlkemper is the next Courage player to get to me so I do a few step overs then, as Abby tries to steal the ball, I nut meg her as well, dance around the American, and keep sprinting up field. As I get closer to the goal Labbé comes off her line so I chip the ball over her and into the net putting us up 2-1.
After the ball hits the net I kiss the tattoo of my Mom's name on my wrist then I head up field.
"Well aren't you fast." Toni says as I hug the team.
"Meh." I say and shrug.
The rest of the game goes by quickly so when the game ends all of the Orlando girls hug to celebrate the three points and the fact we're still in first place.
After our celebration we shake hands with the Courage then I head to the locker room and take first shower.
After my shower I dry off, put my necklaces on then put my earrings and nose ring in before I put my clothes on. Once I'm dressed I sit in my locker and wait for the bus to open
"So Audrey." Alex says as she gets dressed. "You ready to head back to Seattle?"
