It was seven of a busy Monday morning. Unlike the food I brought before, I cooked this exclusively for him.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw who was near the door. He was looking at me seriously, his jaw clenched.
He walked towards me and I froze.
"What are you doing here?" He asked when he was already few feet from me. I was sure I looked like a guilty teenager, caught in doing something naughty.
I opened my mouth to reply but no words came out. His eyes were stoic. Unlike the last time I saw him, his face was already clean. He gained a little weight too, but the dark circles below his eyes were still there.
His gaze tranferred to his table behind me. I moved and tried to block his vision of the food.
"Are you the one sending foods to me everyday?"
"Uhmm... yes, Sir..." I answered, almost inaudible.
"Hmm?" Kumunot ang noo nya. And damn me because even in the midst of this awkward moment, I could still manage to be caught amazed by him.
"I mean..."
"You mean?"
"I mean, it was Sir Drie who asks me to bring you..." I cleared my throat. "...food, Sir." I lied.
"Oh..." he said and I think he was trying his hardest not to look amused. "Okay."
Silence followed after that.
He moved and slowly walked behind his table before he sat down.
"Drie's on a leave now, right?" He asked and I froze.
Bwisit! Mali talaga ang magsinungaling ha, Alison? Lalo kung hindi pinag isipang mabuti. I rolled my eyes at myself before I turned to face him and gave an awkward smile.
