Jaxson and I started dating again slowly.
We went to the movies to catch up on the Avengers franchise. I held strong in my opinion that Iron Man was the superior Avenger, but Jaxson swore it was Captain America.
"Being wealthy isn't a super power!" Jaxson argued, to make his point.
"Tell that to Batman!" I counted, "And Tony's super power is his intelligence, obviously!"
"That doesn't compare to the Captain's strength." he went on.
"If his strength is SO helpful then why does he need a shield made out of indestructible metal?" I pointed out.
"It was a gift!" Jaxon exclaimed, and we both burst out laughing.
"That's some gift." I replied, and he shook his head, his hands wrapping around the base of his neck.
We went to the Topsfield Fair with Kira and Yasmine to play the near impossible games, only near impossible because Yasmine cleared house.
"How in the world are you so good at these?" I cried, as Yasmine was handed a giant panda that she presented to Kira as a gift.
"You must be moonlighting as a carnie." Jaxson added, he held my hand as we walked toward the Ferris wheel.
"Pure skill," Yasmine boasted.
"That guy is not gonna fit," Jaxon pointed toward the panda.
"He's right," Kira agreed, "maybe we should put him in the car?"
"Yes, let's do that quickly. You guys go ahead, we'll meet up with you." Yasmine insisted.
The night air was cooling lightly, as we walked toward the large structure.
"This is nice," Jaxson commented.
I nodded, "It is."
"I'm glad we're hanging out again," he went on.
"Me too," I replied.
I could hear that my responses was lacking depth, but I needed to go slower than slow. I was almost past missing Colson and what we shared and I was positive it wasn't the right relationship for me, or for anyone. It hurt me to think that he would end up alone, but that seemed impossible, as well. He would probably end up with someone that would further his addicted. But that was none of my business.
Jaxson put her arm around me as we sat in the metal seats the swung lightly as we entered. I leaned my head against his arm, starring off into the night sky.
Four months had passed, and Jaxson had been very patient with me. I invited him up to my apartment for a nightcap, after an amazing seafood dinner at Legal Seafoods. I poured two glasses of whiskey, and gulped it down for bravery. I shook as I made my resolve,
"Jaxoson," my voice was a whisper, and I stood a step toward him.
His eyes lit up as he watched me move to stand directly in front of him.
"Are you sure?" he asked, his strong hands slid onto my hips.
I nodded, and brought my lips to his.
His mouth was sweet with the taste of the whiskey and familiar. My hands pressed against his chest, as he pushed his body against mine. We hit against the kitchen counter, and he reached behind me to lift me gently on to the counter, moving between my legs. His mouth on mine, pressed against me rhythmically, his tongue sliding against mine hungrily. He parted from my lips to lift my top over my shoulders, letting it fall to the floor before unhooking my bra. He brought the palm of his hand to hold my cheek, his eyes locking onto to mine. The pad of his thumb rubbed my cheek.
